About the Team

Ground Services is a core shared platform responsible for processing, validating, and distributing data across several strategic products, including eWAS, Mission Watch, and other operational systems.As a critical component within the ecosystem, Ground Services manages high-volume data flows, backend integrations, and complex business workflows that directly affect system reliability and customer experience.You will join a multidisciplinary team composed of:8 Software Engineers2 QA Engineers2 Testers1 Product Ownerworking together to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer with a strong backend mindset and proven Java automation experience to help drive quality across our Ground Services ecosystem.This role goes beyond traditional testing.

You will play a key role in defining automation strategies, increasing quality maturity, improving release confidence, and embedding quality practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle.You will collaborate closely with Developers, Architects, Product Owners, DevOps Engineers, and Frontend teams to ensure robust validation of APIs, integrations, data processing pipelines, and distributed systems.If you are passionate about automation, Quality Engineering, AI-assisted testing, and building reliable large-scale backend platforms, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Engineering & StrategyDefine and execute risk-based testing strategies for new features, releases, maintenance activities, and customer commitments.Promote Shift-Left Quality practices and ensure quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle.Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, DevOps, and Frontend teams to improve testability and quality from design to production.Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on quality metrics, defect trends, and delivery performance.
• Test AutomationDesign, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks using Java.Contribute to and evolve the overall automation strategy for Ground Services.Expand automation coverage across APIs, backend services, integrations, databases, and end-to-end workflows.Improve the maintainability, scalability, and reliability of automated test suites.Integrate automated validations into CI/CD pipelines to accelerate feedback cycles and release confidence.
• Backend & Data ValidationValidate complex backend workflows, distributed systems interactions, and data processing pipelines.Test service-to-service integrations, REST APIs, messaging systems, and microservices.Perform database validation and data integrity checks using SQL.Analyze logs and troubleshoot quality issues across multiple system layers.
• Release Readiness & GovernanceSupport release planning, regression strategy, defect management, and production readiness activities.Act as a quality advocate by providing independent quality assessments and risk-based recommendations for releases.Monitor release health, production quality indicators, and automation effectiveness.

Technical Expectations

Backend & Data

Strong understanding of backend services and distributed systems architectures.Solid knowledge of REST APIs, service-to-service integrations, messaging systems, and microservices environments.Experience validating backend workflows, integrations, and data processing.Good understanding of databases, data models, SQL, and backend data validation techniques.Ability to analyze logs, troubleshoot complex system issues, and identify quality risks across multiple system layers.

Test Automation

Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining Java-based automation frameworks.Deep understanding of test automation architecture, frameworks, and best practices.Experience defining or contributing to automation strategies.Strong knowledge of CI/CD integration and automated quality controls.Focus on maintainability, scalability, reliability, and long-term automation success.

Performance & Reliability

Understanding of performance engineering principles and testing strategies.Ability to identify critical performance KPIs, throughput requirements, scalability risks, latency objectives, and operational quality metrics.Experience collaborating with engineering teams on performance, reliability, resilience, and system stability initiatives.
