Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Design Engineer to join our client’s global chemical processing team in a fully remote capacity. You will translate client needs into robust process designs for a range of industrial applications, leveraging your extensive design and safety expertise from your home office.

You will lead PFDs, P&IDs, simulations, and risk assessments, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams worldwide to deliver safe, efficient projects remotely.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process design engineering for industrial chemical facilities.
• Experience with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, Chemcad) and CAD tools.
• Developing PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and control philosophies.
• Strong knowledge of process safety, including HAZOP analysis and risk management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong communication in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of conceptual and detailed process designs for new chemical plants and upgrades, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment sizing.
• Perform process simulations and calculations using industry-standard software to optimize designs for efficiency, safety, and cost.
• Conduct feasibility studies, hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies, and risk assessments.
• Develop technical specifications for process equipment and instrumentation.
• Collaborate closely with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
• Mentor junior process engineers and contribute to the development of best practices and design standards.
• Stay updated on the latest technologies and regulatory requirements affecting process design.
