Datavant in Barcelona is seeking a Platform Engineer who will contribute to the entire software development lifecycle and enhance the scalability and reliability of our platform. The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience in writing production-level code using Python or Go.

Description

As a platform engineer, you will contribute to all parts of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing, platform automation and operations. You will play a key role in defining problems, designing solutions, and executing to achieve results. You will collaborate with other engineers to lead continuous improvements, refactoring, and rearchitecting to meet the growing expectations of our legacy system.

You will also partner cross-functionally with our product and science teams to provide insights on technology advancements contributing to increased scalability, reliability, and availability for the platform.

Responsibilities

The following duties include, but are not limited to…

• Further automate our infrastructure and tooling.
• Develop and document highly performant and scalable component and software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; and following the software development lifecycle.
• Provide expertise on devising technical solutions, and make informed judgment calls on when and how to invest in tactical vs. strategic solutions.
• Implement automated tests to validate changes to the infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration files, and generally to increase overall coverage.
• Provide insights and suggest technology advancements for the CI/CD harness and automated delivery systems scalability, reliability, and availability.
• Mentor, guide, and develop less senior engineers.
• Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance, as well as faster onboarding of new hires.
• Collaborate closely with our product, design, and science teams to understand the needs of our clients.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with containerized, distributed systems using Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• 5+ years of experience writing production-level code in Python or Go.
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.

Preferred

• Agile Methodology experience leveraging CI/CD.
• Experience with large or distributed datasets.
• Ability to prioritize, communicate well, design for repeatability and scalability, demonstrate accountability, and dig beneath the hood with technology.
• Enjoys working in highly collaborative team environments, including partnering with product teams to find creative solutions for challenging engineering problems.
