EPAM Systems in Madrid, Spain is seeking a Senior Oracle DB Specialist to join a hybrid team. You will leverage Oracle PL/SQL, database architecture, and integration skills to support complex financial systems and ensure stability of mission-critical platforms.

You will collaborate with business, engineering, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable database solutions for securities trading, order management, and related operations, while driving performance tuning and data integrity.

Formación

• Securities trading processes and primary/secondary markets awareness.
• Familiarity with financial instruments and money market transactions.
• Experience with Bloomberg data handling is a plus.
• Agile methods SAFe or Scrum applied to delivery.
• Strong Oracle PL/SQL (19+) development and performance tuning.
• Linux and Bash scripting for automation tasks.
• Knowledge of backend technologies (Java/.NET) for integration contexts.
• Messaging systems like Kafka and IBM MQ; event-driven design.
• Financial messaging: FIX and ISO 20022.
• REST, XML, JSON and security (OAuth 2.0, TLS).
• CI/CD tools (GitLab, Octopus) and distributed deployments; Kubernetes a plus.
• Observability with Grafana/Prometheus; system design and observability.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder influence; English fluent.

We're looking for a Senior Oracle DB Specialist to join our team in Madrid, Spain in a hybrid working mode. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and database architecture to support the integration of complex financial systems and ensure the stability of mission-critical platforms. You will act as a trusted technical partner, enabling smooth collaboration across business, engineering, and DevOps teams to deliver solutions for securities trading, order management, and secondary market operations. Responsibilities

• Lead database-related aspects of integrating the order management system (IBM OTMS) with the future core banking platform
• Support secondary market trading operational integrations by providing strong technical expertise
• Deliver technical guidance across development and DevOps teams during system implementation phases
• Collaborate with business analysts to identify functional requirements and translate them into efficient database solutions
• Utilize Oracle PL/SQL expertise to optimize performance, streamline operations, and maintain high data integrity
• Communicate effectively with external vendors (market data and exchange platforms) to ensure smooth business expansion and reliable systems integration
• Contribute to strategic discussions regarding software solutions for our client's Order Management division
• Maintain existing systems and proactively identify opportunities for technical enhancement

Requirements

• Exceptional knowledge of securities trading processes, including primary and secondary markets across various asset classes (equities, fixed income, funds, structured products, ETFs, derivatives)
• Strong understanding of financial instruments and money market transactions
• Practical exposure to Bloomberg data (master data and pricing)
• Familiarity with agile methodologies such as SAFe or Scrum
• Strong Oracle PL/SQL 19+ development and performance tuning skills
• Hands-on experience in Linux environments and Bash scripting for automation
• Understanding of Java, .NET, or equivalent back-end technologies to interpret integration contexts
• Solid grounding in messaging systems (Kafka, IBM MQ) and event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with financial messaging protocols like FIX and ISO20022
• Experience in RESTful APIs, XML, JSON, and security mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, TLS)
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitLab, Octopus) and distributed systems deployments; Kubernetes is a plus
• Experience with system design, architecture and observability using Grafana and Prometheus
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• English fluency (written and spoken)

Nice to have

• Familiarity with IBM OTMS or similar order management platforms
• Prior experience in the wealth management or private banking sector
• Knowledge of Jira and Confluence for tracking and documentation
