Job summary

Aquila Capital is seeking a (Senior) Legal Counsel in Madrid to independently advise on commercial and contract law across renewable energy, real estate and infrastructure projects. The role involves drafting, reviewing and negotiating SPAs, EPCs, O&M and leases, plus advising management on energy law developments.

Fully qualified Spanish lawyers with at least four years in a transactional practice are invited to apply; fluent Spanish and English are required, with additional languages a plus.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Spanish lawyer or comparable European qualification.
• At least 4 years of experience in a commercial/transaction-focused law firm.
• Fluent in Spanish and English; other languages a plus.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to understand complex business matters.

Responsibilities

• Independently advise on all legal matters related to general commercial and contract law, focusing on renewable energy, real estate, and infrastructure projects.
• Draft, review and negotiate national and international agreements (SPAs, EPCs, O&M, procurement and service agreements, leases).
• Support restructuring and sale of projects; enforce and defend warranty and damages claims.
• Assist in out-of-court negotiations and international litigation/arbitration proceedings.
• Advise and train management on current developments in energy law and restructuring.
• Interface between internal teams and external counsel; manage external counsel.
