JetBrains is seeking a highly skilled engineer to join the Kotlin Compiler team. You’ll own the central pipeline connecting the frontend to multiple backends, shaping how Kotlin code is transformed, validated, and optimized with backward compatibility in mind.

You’ll collaborate with Kotlin teams, drive architectural decisions to improve performance and memory usage, and elevate the daily experience for Kotlin developers worldwide.

Formación

• Proficiency in Kotlin/JVM or Java.
• Deep understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Experience in compiler development is a plus.
• Experience developing Gradle plugins is advantageous.
• Experience optimizing JVM application performance is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement new language features.
• Implement and fine-tune intermediate representation (IR) lowering passes.
• Investigate and resolve complex compiler bugs and edge cases.
• Improve compiler performance and memory usage.
• Work with other Kotlin teams to shape how the language evolves.
• Help improve the developer experience for Kotlin users.
• Maintain and improve Kotlin infrastructure (IR/AST transformations, Klibs, and backward compatibility).
