Job summary

Bonapolia is seeking a Senior Go Engineer to design, build, and scale backend services for a global mobility platform. You will own architecture decisions, drive research, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable, observable systems with strong testing practices.

Candidates should have 5+ years of backend experience, deep Go knowledge, and proficiency with SQL databases, Redis, and distributed systems. CET timezone, remote-friendly, 3+6 months project plan, B2B contract.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production backend engineering experience and complex product development.
• Strong Go expertise: concurrency, context propagation, goroutine lifecycle management, and graceful shutdown.
• Experience with high-load distributed systems and microservice architecture.
• Strong SQL and data modelling: schema design, joins, indexes, query analysis, replication, partitioning, and sharding.
• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL and Redis caching strategies.
• Sync/async inter-service communication using gRPC and message brokers, including delivery guarantees and idempotency.
• Observability: metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, and Go profiling.
• Understanding of NFRs, SLA/SLO/SLI, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud platforms.
• Maintainable, testable code; unit/integration testing; Git and code review workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and features.
• Drive technical research, architecture design, and implementation.

Customer Description:

A global mobility and urban services platform enabling users to book rides and other services while negotiating fares directly with service providers.

Project Phase: ongoing

Soft Skills:

• Ability to explain project architecture and the business problems addressed in depth.
• Ability to independently clarify ambiguous requirements, define metrics, address concurrency and edge cases, and articulate technical trade-offs.

Hard Skills / Must Have:

• 5+ years of production backend engineering experience and complex product development.
