Job summary

Rover is expanding its Client Platform team in Barcelona. We are seeking a senior frontend engineer with a strong web and React Native background to own cross‑platform UI work, set standards, and mentor local engineers. This is a hybrid role based in Barcelona's Poblenou, two days per week in-office, with relocation considered.

The role emphasizes building reusable frontend libraries, contributing to Next.js migrations, and advancing AI-native development practices across Rover.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as a professional software developer.
• Expertise with JavaScript frameworks (especially React) and component-driven design.
• Experience in React Native development.
• Experience building reusable frontend libraries.
• Experience coaching more junior developers.
• Rigor in automated testing, code quality, and engineering standard methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex technical problems at the fundamentals of web and React Native clients.
• Set technical standards across Rover; evangelize and educate on those standards.
• Build cross-platform code that works across web and React Native.
• Help set a technical roadmap and vision for the team; own destiny in absence of product manager.
• Mentor and answer questions for Barcelona engineers on Client Platform topics.
• Represent Client Platform in forums and inform roadmap and vision.
• Mentor and coach more junior engineers.
