Job summary

Ebury Leon Office in Spain is seeking a hands-on IFRS/Audit professional to lead the IFRS 9/IFRS 13 numbers, manage subsidiary audits, and act as entity controller. You will work closely with senior managers and the Group Financial Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely sign-offs in a hybrid work setup.

You will collaborate with Data, Treasury and Risk teams while continuously reviewing policies and disclosures.

Qualifications

• IFRS 9/IFRS 13 knowledge: provisions, ECL calculations, CVA, DVA and credit risk adjustments.
• 5+ years in audit, accounting or financial reporting.
• Hands-on IFRS 9/IFRS 13 experience and an audit background (ideally Big 4).
• Good understanding of statutory audit and preparing financial statements, including mapping.
• Project-manager mindset: manage deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to see the big picture and challenge.
• Advanced Excel and excellent English; Spanish and a professional qualification are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own IFRS 9/IFRS 13 numbers from calculation to posting: ECL provisions, CVA/DVA, credit risk adjustments.
• Explain movements monthly and provide management with clear summaries.
• Keep IFRS policies up to date and prepare disclosures for group/subsidiaries.
• Collaborate with Data, Treasury and Credit Risk teams and respond to auditors.
• Propose process improvements to simplify and speed up tasks.
• Audit controller for several subsidiaries: agree fees, sign-offs, prep financial statements and disclosures.
• Act as the link between auditors and business to ensure timely replies and on-schedule audits.
• Prepare monthly P&L/balance sheet variance analyses for entities.
• Identify irregularities, ask questions and challenge explanations.

Ebury Leon Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home per week

The role

This is a hands‑on job with real ownership and three parts: IFRS 9/IFRS 13, subsidiary audits and entity control. You will work day to day with the senior managers in our team and with the Group Financial Controller, who leads the department.

What you’ll do

IFRS 9/IFRS 13, the heart of the role

• Own our IFRS 9/IFRS 13 numbers, from calculation to posting: ECL provisions, CVA/DVA and credit risk adjustments.
• Explain them. Each month you will walk through the movements and send management a clear summary of what happened and why.
• Keep our IFRS 9/IFRS 13 policies and procedures up to date, and prepare the disclosures for Group and subsidiary financial statements.
• Work with the Data, Treasury and Credit Risk teams and answer the auditors’ questions.
• Question how we do things today and make our processes simpler and better.

Run the audits of our subsidiaries

• Be the audit controller for several subsidiaries, from start to finish: agree fees and sign-off dates with the auditors, and prepare the financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, equity, cash flow) and disclosures.
• Be the link between the auditors and the business, making sure every department replies on time and the audit is signed off on schedule.

Be the entity controller

• Prepare monthly packs and P&L / balance sheet variance analysis for your entities.
• Spot what looks odd, ask the right questions and challenge the explanations you get.

What we’re looking for

• IFRS 9/IFRS13 knowledge: provisions, ECL calculations, CVA, DVA and credit risk adjustments. This is the key requirement.
• 5+ years in audit, accounting or financial reporting.
• Hands‑on IFRS 9/IFRS 13 experience and an audit background (ideally Big 4) are big pluses.
• A good understanding of how a statutory audit works, and the ability to prepare financial statements, including mapping.
• A project‑manager mindset: you keep many people moving towards a deadline and stay on top of things.
• An eye for detail and for the big picture, and the confidence to challenge.
• Advanced Excel and excellent English. Spanish and a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ROAC or equivalent) are a plus.
