GE Vernova, Inc. is seeking a Sr Engineer - Mechanical Engineering to lead design and development of mechanical components for wind turbine nacelle and frames. You will guide a diverse team, conduct component trade studies, and ensure lifecycle ownership from concept through validation and field support.

The role requires 10+ years in product design and 7+ years in wind, with strong FEA, frequency-domain methods, and CAD/CAE proficiency. Travel up to 20% is expected.

Formación

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years product design and development experience with 7 years in wind industry.
  • Proficient in FEA with solid experience in complex models.
  • Strong experience in Frequency Domain Methods.
  • Proven experience as Frames Ownership.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of CAD (NX 3D-CAD), CAE (Ansys) and PLM tools.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of time.

Responsabilidades

  • Design engineering solutions for mechanical structural parts (composites, metallic structures, cranes, seals & louvers) of a wind turbine.
  • Coordinate interfaces between mechanical systems and components with other GE Wind teams.
  • Develop engineering drawings and specification requirements for sourcing wind turbine components.
  • Perform technical risk assessment and execute validation test plans to mitigate risks.
  • Assist in issue resolution of mechanical components for fielded turbines.
  • Guide and mentor team in technical problem solving.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to manage the product life cycle and contribute to MGPP and MGTP.
  • Integrate components into overall turbine design while satisfying turbine and interface requirements.
  • Maintain Systems Thinking mindset and assess implications of component changes.
  • Own risk identification and mitigation including dFMEA and design verification.
  • Ensure quality of drawings, BoMs and specs per GE and industry standards.

Job Description Summary

The Sr Engineer - Mechanical Engineering position is in Nacelle & Frames team within Wind Machine Head Engineering Subsystem. The team provides full lifecycle ownership and support for mechanical hardware (Nacelle-Composite Cover, Main Frame, Small Structures, Cranes, Seals & Louvers…) including New Product/Technology Introduction, Validation & Testing, Field Support and Root Cause Analysis.
The Sr Engineer - Mechanical Engineering will be responsible for design and development of mechanical components with full exposure to product life cycle. Job Description

The Sr Engineer - Mechanical Engineering position is in Nacelle & Frames team within Wind Machine Head Engineering Subsystem. The Sr Engineer - Mechanical Engineering will be responsible for design and development of mechanical components with full exposure to product life cycle. Guide and mentor team by providing technical guidance working with diverse, cross-functional teams to execute component trade studies and design deliverables.

As a Sr Engineer - Mechanical Engineering you will:

  • Design engineering solutions for mechanical structural parts (Composites, Metallic Structures, Cranes, Seals & Louvers…) of a wind turbine.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams within GE Wind to coordinate interfaces between mechanical systems and components.
  • Develop engineering drawings and specification requirements for sourcing of wind turbine components.
  • Perform technical risk assessment and execute validation test plans to mitigate risks.
  • Assist in issue resolution of mechanical components for fielded turbines.
  • Guide and mentor team in technical problem solving.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams for managing the product life cycle, including prime contributor to component team strategy, Multigeneration Product Plan (MGPP) and Multigeneration Technology Plan (MGTP).
  • Collaboration with System, Sub-System, and component Engineers to integrate components into overall turbine design while satisfying turbine and interface requirements.
  • Maintain "Systems Thinking" mindset and higher-level turbine system requirements to understand the needs and implications of potential component changes and impacts to the rest of the machine.
  • Ownership of design tool maintenance to ensure "fit for use" including design practice, design tools and lessons learned documentation updates.
  • Own risk identification and mitigation process including dFMEA and design verification.
  • Ensure quality of new and revised drawings, BoMs and specifications applying all GE and industry processes, standards and best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/ Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years product design and development experience with 7 years in the wind industry or relevant industry in product design.
  • Proficient in FEA with solid experience in complex models
  • Strong experience in Frequency Domain Methods
  • Proven experience as Frames Ownership
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills
  • Working knowledge of CAD (preferably Unigraphics NX 3D-CAD), CAE (preferably Ansys) and PLM tools
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of time
