Job summary

Veolia’s Madrid-based team seeks a Senior Consultant to join the Economic Studies & Regulation group, focusing on energy market regulation, decarbonisation and green finance for energy investments.

You will deliver market assessments, tariff design, and IFI-funded reforms while building robust financial models for international projects and PPAs. Fluency in English and additional languages is preferred.

Qualifications

• MSc in Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
• 5–10 years of experience in energy market analysis and regulation, with European work experience.
• Deep understanding of wholesale energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and market design.

Responsibilities

• Conduct energy market assessments, economic analyses and valuations for due diligence and project development.
• Design and implement tariff frameworks and cost-of-service studies for regulated utilities.
• Deliver IFI-funded regulatory and market reform assignments (World Bank, EU, etc.).
• Build financial models for IFIs and investors on international projects and PPAs.
• Support green and sustainable finance advisory and energy transition topics.
• Provide strategic advice on energy sector business models and investment decisions.
• Analyse wholesale, balancing and ancillary markets and platforms.
• Present analyses to diverse audiences in English and other languages.
• Identify market opportunities and contribute to business development.
