Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to become part of a global engineering team responsible for the design and continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will design robust electrical distribution systems, collaborate on equipment qualifications, and travel to sites for reviews and startup activities, ensuring IEC and EU compliance and high uptime across facilities.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations or facility maintenance.
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, oil and gas, etc.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies and construction methods for data center equipment.

Responsabilidades

• Design data center electrical systems and collaborate with other disciplines to create construction documentation.
• Participate in site selection reviews and site planning activities.
• Design critical equipment including generators, UPS, MV & LV switchgear, transformers, earthing, life safety and fire detection systems.
• Develop designs that meet quality requirements and stay within budget.
• Specify suitable electrical equipment with regional vendors and manufacturers.
• Define site utility needs and coordinate with local utilities.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, EU requirements, building codes, and local agency regulations.
• Approve equipment submittals and review construction drawings.
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests before and during construction.
• Work with commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
• Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic regions.
• Travel to sites for reviews, audits, and startup activities as required.
• Lead within the global group and support internal and external teams.
• Produce creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions.

A Day in the Life

As an Electrical Engineer on the team, you will design robust electrical distribution systems to ensure world‑class uptime. Your day may include drafting design specifications, reviewing technical drawings, collaborating on equipment qualifications, conducting site inspections, responding to design queries, and presenting work to stakeholders. You will transition between desk‑based design and on‑site activities to ensure seamless translation from concept to construction, while exploring new technologies and construction methods that can improve facility operations.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations or facility maintenance.
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, oil and gas, etc.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies and construction methods for data center equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering or Architectural license.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience applying design concepts from exploration through deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting and creating construction drawings, specifications and submittal documents.
