Cala AI in Barcelona is seeking a seasoned DevOps engineer to design, implement and maintain a cloud platform for AI workloads. You will operate a highly scalable, low-latency infrastructure and collaborate across data pipelines, AI model serving, and APIs.

The role requires hands-on experience with Kubernetes, IaC, monitoring, and cloud security; you will deploy infrastructure, enforce best practices, and participate in architecture discussions with multiple hats.

Formación

• 2 years experience in Database Administration
• 4 years experience in SysAdmin/Infra
• Experience designing scalable cloud platforms for AI workloads

Location

Requires going to the office at least 3 days a week.

We are looking for a seasoned devops engineer to help us design, implement and maintain a challenging cloud platform in the AI space.

As a startup we look for expert generalists that are able to wear different hats depending on the needs. For this specific offer this means being able to understand an heterogeneous platform containing data pipelines, AI model serving, complex data stores, APIs... and help identify the best technologies to support such needs, as well as providing the best practices and support from the infrastructure side.

The platform requires to be highly scalable, redundant and with minimum latency, and part of the job will be to create and maintain the cloud infrastructure for this.

Your day-to-day tasks will range from team whiteboard discussions, to operating our Kubernetes cluster, deploying new infrastructure via IaC or defining the monitoring and observability stack amongst others.

Hiring process

• Meet & Greet [<30min]: for the candidate to learn about the project and company we are building, and what we are looking for specifically. For us to get to know the candidate


• Technical interview 1 [<1h]: go over the candidate's experience, with deep technical questions about what the employee has been doing in the discussed projects, and "what-if" questions related to those scenarios. The goal of this interview is to determine the candidate's experience


• Technical interview 2 [<1h]: systems design interview. The candidate is given a fake scenario and has to design a sub-system of the broader platform to solve a specific need. The goal of this interview is to determine how the candidate applies the previous experience to new use-cases, his/her problem solving skills and capacity to react to changes


• Culture fit interview [<30min]: interview with the CEO
