Expedia Group is seeking a skilled Data Engineer in Madrid to design, build, and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines. You will work on distributed systems for data extraction, processing, movement, and storage across the B2B data platform.

The role requires 6+ years with a bachelor’s or 3+ with a master’s, proficiency in multiple languages (Java/Python/Scala/Spark), and cloud data experience. Collaboration and mentoring are key parts of the job.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree.
• 3+ years with a master's degree or equivalent.
• Experience in building and maintaining more than one production data pipeline.
• Proficiency in at least 3 data-relevant languages (Java, Python, Scala, Spark).
• Hands-on experience with large data volumes and cloud data offerings.
• Understanding of databases, data modeling, and testing/monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines.
• Build and operate distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, processing, and storage.
• Apply software design principles and distributed computing concepts.
• Work with large-scale datasets and complex data access patterns.
• Develop software using Java, Python, Scala, and Spark.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate stakeholders across teams.
