Construo AG is seeking a data engineer specializing in AI-driven development to design and maintain data pipelines using AI agents to generate code. You will develop algorithms, analyze data, and validate AI outputs while owning data modeling and quality across cloud infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have strong dbt/SQL experience on Databricks, Python (PySpark a plus), and familiarity with CI/CD for data. English proficiency (B2/C1) is required for cross-functional collaboration.

Your Mission

You'll be working on a project to enhance and advance data-models, ETL pipelines and services key to our large multinational client in the financial sector. The project follows a new agentic development framework, where AI agents handle the development lifecycle. Hands-on experience in data CI/CD, strong knowledge of system design, algorithms, data structures, and cloud infrastructure is required. You should excel in data modeling and architecture, possess analytical prowess, and demonstrate a proactive understanding of complex subject domains.

Part of your daily responsibilities will be to:

• Design, implement and maintain data pipelines, using AI agents to produce the code
• Develop algorithms to transform data into useful information
• Analyse data to identify issues and define the logic for complex functions and scripts
• Guide and validate AI-generated solutions so they follow standards, focusing on simplicity, performance, and maintainability
• Own data modeling and data quality, acting as the expert behind the AI that produces the results
• Explore new data sources and integrate them into the data product(s)
• Work with CI/CD processes for data, as well as data testing and monitoring
• Create prototypes and documentation underlying main aspects of the work

• You have a bachelor, master's or Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering or other quantitative subjects
• You have strong hands-on experience with dbt and SQL, our main data transformation stack on Databricks
• You have experience with, or a strong interest in, AI-driven/agentic development, and are comfortable directing and validating AI-generated code rather than coding by hand
• You can set up and contribute to an effective agentic framework
• You have proven experience with Python Programming (PySpark is a plus)
• You have a software development background with knowledge of design-patterns and unit-testing, enough to review and validate AI-generated code
• You have proven experience working with CI/CD processes for data as well as data testing and monitoring
• You have great communication skills (both verbal and written), being able to describe complex technical concepts and results in a clear and detailed manner to non-technical audiences
• You have strong knowledge of data modelling, data quality and data architecture concepts
• You have knowledge of system design, data structures, algorithms, storage systems, and cloud infrastructure
• You have worked in agile projects using agile collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence) (nice to have)
• You have had experience in the insurance/reinsurance or financial industry (nice to have)
• You are a good communicator in English (B2/C1 level)
