Sompo is searching for a Credit Controller for its Finance Operations team in Barcelona or Madrid. This role involves proactive credit control, ensuring overdue accounts are managed effectively, and collaborating with various departments to resolve issues.

Applicants should have over 5 years of experience in the insurance sector, particularly in credit control and co-insurance. Strong Excel skills and the ability to work independently are essential. Additional language skills in Italian or French are advantageous.

Formación

• 5+ years experience in a similar role within the Insurance/reinsurance market.
• Experience of credit control in the Insurance sector, especially in co-insurance.
• Aged Debt Reporting and analysis experience.

Responsabilidades

• Pro-active credit control and management of overdue accounts.

• Conduct timely investigation and resolution of challenging accounts.

Descripción del empleo

Credit controller – Finance Operations team, Continental Europe, located in Barcelona or Madrid.

Responsibilities

• Pro-active credit control
• Ensure overdue/late accounts are followed up and escalated to management.
• Follow up on action points/escalations from review meetings and update Line manager.
• Analyse and review trends and provide recommendations to reduce the overdue debt in consultation with Line manager.
• Allocate cash to receivables.
• Handle and follow up on any queries from the collections operation including cash allocation.
• Allocate IPT/Taxes and follow up queries with Tax Department.
• File documentation and activity as required.
• Timely investigation and resolution of challenging accounts/cedants is expected.
• Collaborate with Finance department, underwriting department, claims department, brokers and clients to resolve any queries or technical issues.
• Ad hoc duties as directed by Line Manager.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in a similar role within the Insurance/reinsurance market in Continental Europe is essential.
• Experience of credit control in the Insurance sector, especially in context of co‑insurance.
• Experience of Aged Debt Reporting and analysis is essential.
• Strong Excel skills at Proficient Level (including macros) are essential for this role.
• Strong grasp of business processes and systems.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Ability and confidence to challenge existing procedures and use of system.
• Strong technical skills including credit control skills.
• Good understanding of co‑insurance systems and procedures.
• Knowledge of Insurance and Reinsurance products in Continental Europe would be an advantage.
• Awareness of Sox Controls is desirable but not essential.
• Associate or member of the Chartered Institute of credit management is desirable but not essential.
• English language skills are essential, Italian or French language skills are an advantage.
