Our research combines molecular biology, patient-derived models, and translational approaches to improve outcomes for children with blood cancers.

THE PROJECT TO BE DEVELOPED:

The Pediatric Haematologic Malignancies Research Programme focuses on understanding the biology of paediatric leukaemias and lymphomas and developing new therapeutic strategies. Our research combines molecular biology, patient-derived models, and translational approaches to improve outcomes for children with blood cancers.

To strengthen our computational research capacity, we are seeking a Senior Computational Biologist/Bioinformatician to complement our efforts in identifying novel therapeutic avenues for the treatment of haematological malignancies. This transversal position requires a high level of autonomy and scientific initiative. The successful candidate will contribute to the computational identification and validation of actionable therapeutic targets in immunotherapy, while applying existing and developing novel integrative computational approaches to analyse complex ‘omics datasets. The candidate will work in close interaction with the bioinformatics core team, as well as with our broader research and medical teams, to translate computational insights into actionable biological and therapeutic opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Contribute to the discovery of actionable novel targets in the field of immunotherapy using a multi-omics approach, including genomics, transcriptomics (bulk and single cell) and proteomics, as well as utilizing and integrating existing resources to assess disease specificity, relevance and therapeutic potential.
  • Develop quantitative frameworks to assess the biological relevance, specificity, tractability and therapeutic potential of targets
  • Provide computational support for the development of novel CAR-T therapeutics including, and not restricted to, the characterization and analysis of cell-surface targets as well as providing support in antibody humanization and other optimization requirements as well as most suitable modalities.
  • Provide scientific leadership including the mentoring of early-career researchers, communicating scientific findings either internally or externally in the form of publication, patents, etc., and contributing to external scientific collaborations.
  • Work independently as well as a part of a team while maintaining close interaction with the programme investigators and the broad research and medical community in a transversal collaboration.
WE OFFER:
  • 5-year contract, with the possibility to extend depending on performance
  • The opportunity to contribute to translational research focused on paediatric blood cancer.
  • A collaborative and multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure.
  • Participation in research projects aimed at developing new therapeutic strategies for paediatric leukaemia.
  • Competitive salary ranging from €45,000 to €50,000 gross per year, depending on experience and in accordance with institutional salary scales.
  • SJD T-Cuida Programme, offering initiatives and benefits to promote the physical, emotional, social and professional well-being of our teams.
