Bryden Wood is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its design team in Barcelona. The role focuses on leading civil design, especially underground works, drainage and hydraulics, with strong BIM involvement using Civil 3D, Revit and InfoDrainage.

You will work across disciplines, engage with clients and authorities, and drive project plans, risks, and delivery while supporting a dynamic design culture at Bryden Wood.

• Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written).

• Set project plans, monitor delivery, and manage scope, programme, resources, and delivery risks. Acting as design lead and job runner as required.

We are looking for an ambitious and highly capable Senior Civil Engineer to work in the exciting and dynamic design team at Bryden Wood.

As part of the civil engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a cutting-edge and dynamic design environment, collaborating with – and learning from – the multiple disciplines across the company.

Key responsibilities

• The ideal candidate would be a good ‘all-rounder’ with a strong civil underground engineering background, and also interest in emerging technologies including BIM. The candidate would take ownership of the designs on projects and support the civil team designing civils systems.

Technical and Leadership skills

• Strong level of civil design capability including: interpreting existing site conditions levels, underground drainage, utilities, pavements and roads, flooding, and earthworks.
• Strong understanding of stormwater / drainage hydraulics and flow behaviour is required.
• The successful candidate will need to be able carry out most of this design autonomously for medium building sites and work under supervision for larger projects.
• Confident engaging with clients, contractors, other designers, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain strong working relationships to support successful project delivery with a respectful approach.
• Efficient approach to work, prioritising effectively and using appropriate levels of detail to deliver in a timely manner.
• Ability to set project plans, monitor delivery, and execute successfully (including managing scope, programme, resources, capabilities, and delivery risks). Acting as design lead and job runner as required.
• A good understanding of BIM requirements. Proficiency in (and enthusiasm for) design and modelling software including, Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, and hydraulic modelling software such as InfoDrainage.
• Experience with submission and approval with relevant Spanish bodies and authorities (Colegio de Ingenieros, municipalities, environmental authorities, statutory undertakers, and other stakeholders).
• Knowledge of UK and European codes is an advantage.

About you

• Relevant experience of working in either a design office or directly within the construction industry with exposure to a variety of project sizes, stages and industries, this typically takes 4 - 7 years to achieve.
• Fluent in spoken and written in English and Spanish.
