Qualifyze in Barcelona, Spain, seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Engineering team. You’ll join a growing team of 50+ engineers and data professionals, shaping scalable backend architectures and driving value through clean code, testing, and domain-driven design.

In this role you’ll own technical decisions, mentor peers, collaborate with DevOps, product managers, and design, and translate product requirements into robust, secure solutions.

Formación

• Strong experience in Java/Springboot.
• Proficient with PostgreSQL and data modelling.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures.
• Familiar with secure by default design for regulated environments.
• Experience working in international teams; English communication required.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Tech department, specifically the Engineering team. You’ll be part of a growing team of over 50 people working across engineering and data.

You’ll champion clean architectures, solid testing strategies, and domain-driven design principles to ensure we deliver real value, every step of the way.

Main responsibilities:

• Guide backend architecture, testing, and technical decisions across teams, ensuring scalable, high-quality delivery and adherence to best practices.
• Own and solve complex tasks within large projects, or lead small projects independently.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, the DevOps team, product managers, and the design team. You will lead the technical approach translating product requirements into clear, functional solutions.
• Mentor peers and support pragmatic decision-making, balancing business priorities with technical needs.
• Follow, contribute to, and ensure adherence to our team’s working agreements.
• Work autonomously, taking ownership of stories, programming, and coordinating tasks without external assistance.

Main requirements:

• Strong experience in Java/Springboot.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Pragmatic approach to technical solutions.
• Proficient in clean architectures, good practices and testing
• Hands-on experience with event-driven systems.
• Nice to have: experience designing systems with security and compliance by default, following best practices for regulated environments.
• You’ll be working in an international environment, so daily communication will be in English.

Salary

At Qualifyze, our salary ranges are transparent internally, and we aim to follow a similar approach externally. For this role, we’re happy to share a reference point within the band: the expected salary range is around 60.000€ – 70.000 €, centered around the median.

Final compensation will depend on experience and performance during the process, with some flexibility within the range.
