Job summary

Playson is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to own and optimize core backend services in a high-load platform. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to design, build, and scale scalable backend features while maintaining top reliability and performance.

The role emphasizes hands-on production code, on-call responsibilities, and collaboration across a cross-functional squad to drive architectural improvements and high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with Node.js/TypeScript and other major OOP languages such as Java, Python, C++, C#, or Go.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming techniques.
• Deep production experience with Kafka: consumer-group rebalances, offset-commit strategies, and exactly-once semantics limits.
• Experience designing idempotent, retry-safe handlers for at-least-once pipelines: transactional outbox, idempotency keys, deduplication.
• Experience building services with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, plus production NoSQL experience at scale (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis).
• Hands-on experience running services on Kubernetes and AWS/GCP: deployment, autoscaling, resource limits, production debugging.
• Production operations experience: on-call ownership, incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-incident improvements.

Responsibilities

• Own core product backend features within a cross-functional team.
• Design, build, and deliver backend features end-to-end in a distributed environment.
• Write production-level code daily for a high-load, scalable system.
• Own services handling financial transactions at scale with reliability and accuracy.
• Proactively propose and implement architectural, process, and development-improvement enhancements.
• Participate in code and architectural reviews to uphold engineering standards.
• Solve complex business and technical challenges with pragmatic, efficient solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and availability.
• Contribute to tech transformation initiatives across the platform.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions used globally.
