Insight Global are seeking a Senior Back-End Engineer for a leading global financial technology organisation specialising in international payments, foreign exchange, and multi-currency account solutions. This role requires 3 days onsite in Alcobendas, Spain.

You will design, develop, and support scalable backend services powering payment processing, onboarding, compliance workflows, settlement functions, and other critical platform capabilities.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong experience developing and supporting production-grade backend applications.
• Experience with C# and .NET; Java/Kotlin/Go are a plus.
• Strong SQL/database design knowledge.
• Experience writing automated tests.
• Daily use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot).
• Hands-on AWS deployment experience.
• Experience with CI/CD and modern cloud deployment.
• Knowledge of AWS services (SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, Lambda).
• Strong microservices, distributed systems, and system design understanding.
• Experience in payments/fintech/regulatory environments.
• Technical leadership: mentoring, design reviews, architectural influence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Design and own backend services for payments, onboarding, KYC/KYB, FX, and settlements.
• Lead technical delivery from requirements to deployment and production support.
• Develop and maintain partner integrations and settlement infrastructure.
• Own service reliability, observability, monitoring, incident response, and operational excellence.
• Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical decisions.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and best practices.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, operations, and engineering to deliver compliant solutions.
• Utilise AI-assisted development tools throughout the SDLC to boost productivity.
• Contribute to modernization and migration of legacy systems.

This position requires 3 days onsite in Alcobendas, Spain.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting scalable backend services that power payment processing, onboarding, compliance workflows, settlement functions, and other critical financial platform capabilities. Working closely with product, compliance, operations, architecture, and engineering teams, you will drive technical solutions from initial design through deployment and production support while helping modernise existing systems and services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and own backend services supporting payments, onboarding, KYC, KYB, foreign exchange, settlement, and related financial platform functions.
• Lead technical delivery from requirements gathering and solution design through deployment and production support.
• Develop and maintain partner integrations and settlement infrastructure supporting business-critical operations.
• Own service reliability, observability, monitoring, incident response, and operational excellence.
• Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical decision-making initiatives.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and development best practices.
• Partner with product, compliance, operations, and engineering stakeholders to deliver scalable and compliant solutions.
• Utilise AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle to improve productivity, testing, and delivery outcomes.
• Contribute to application modernisation and legacy system migration initiatives.

Must-Have Requirements Include:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience developing and supporting production-grade backend applications.
• Strong experience with C# and .NET. Experience with Java, Kotlin, or Go will also be considered.
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational database design principles.
• Experience writing, maintaining, and supporting automated tests.
• Daily use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies.
• Hands-on experience deploying and supporting applications within AWS environments.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern cloud deployment practices.
• Knowledge of AWS services including SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, and Lambda.
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and system design principles.
• Experience working within payments, foreign exchange, fintech, banking, or other regulated environments.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and influencing architectural decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Plusses Include:

• Experience working with ledger systems, double-entry accounting platforms, or financial transaction processing platforms.
• Experience leading application modernisation efforts or large-scale platform migrations.
• Knowledge of caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, and related collaboration tools.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Bruno.
• Experience supporting hiring, interviewing, or onboarding activities within engineering teams.
• Experience incorporating AI-assisted testing, automation, and software development practices into day-to-day workflows.
