NN Digital Hub Iberia S.L. in Madrid seeks a Senior API Designer to shape API strategy across NN International. You will design scalable web services on Azure PaaS, govern API standards, and drive cross-country integration patterns within an insurance-focused ecosystem.
The role emphasizes architecture influence, DevOps practices, and collaboration with global teams to deliver reusable, secure, and robust solutions. Fluency in English and experience in international settings are essential.
NN Digital Hub is a subsidiary company of NN Group located in Madrid, Spain. We deliver IT services and solutions for the different international Business Units.
As a Senior API DevOps Application Engineer within the Design Team, you will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, reusable, and business-oriented integration solutions on the Azure Platform, with a strong focus on fostering an API Platform culture across NN International. This role requires extensive experience in the design and development of web services, as well as a strong analytical mindset to identify and propose cross-functional, reusable solutions that support business needs, particularly within the insurance sector. You will play a key role in defining integration patterns, improving API governance, and supporting the evolution of our mediation and integration layers. You will also incorporate innovative techniques, including Intelligent Automation (IA), to improve process performance and establish more efficient and robust integration models. Knowledge of INSIS is highly desirable, especially regarding REST and SOAP services and how NN applications integrate with them. "This role is ideal for engineers who want to move beyond pure development and actively influence architecture, integration strategy, governance, and solution design across multiple countries within an international insurance organization."
Beyond technical expertise, we are looking for someone who: Challenges the status quo and proposes better ways of working. Has the confidence to make decisions while remaining open to feedback. Can communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences. Understands that the best solution is not always the fastest one, but the one that creates long-term value. Enjoys working in international environments and collaborating with multiple stakeholders. Foster a strong culture of teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Takes ownership and naturally becomes a point of reference for others. Contribute to solution design activities and support architectural decision-making. Collaborate with the Design Team to identify reusable and cross-functional solutions. Support integrations involving insurance core systems, including INSIS. Thrives in an international environment where English is the primary working language.
This is not a traditional development position. As a Senior API DevOps Application Engineer within the Design Team, you will operate at the intersection of business, architecture, integration, and engineering, helping shape how solutions are designed and implemented across multiple countries and business units. You will have the opportunity to: Influence the technical direction of strategic initiatives before development starts. Participate in solution assessments and feasibility analyses for new products, upgrades, migrations, and innovation initiatives. Define reusable and cross-business-unit integration patterns that can be adopted internationally. Participate in governance forums and contribute to key architectural and platform decisions. Drive standardization and promote common ways of working across countries and teams. Collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, platform teams, security teams, and external vendors. Help reduce technical debt by identifying opportunities to replace custom developments with standard platform capabilities. Contribute to the evolution of the API Platform ecosystem, integration framework, and overall insurance technology landscape. Share knowledge and contribute to technical communities, helping raise engineering standards across the organization. This role offers a unique combination of hands‑on engineering, solution design, technical leadership, and business impact, making it ideal for professionals who want to go beyond development and actively influence how enterprise‑wide solutions are built.
