Job summary

CloudLinux is seeking a Platform Engineer for the PaaS team to own and automate platform services, with a focus on reliability, automation, and self-service. You will work across observability, CI runners, and provisioning, partnering with product teams to deliver robust systems.

You will split time between platform engineering, incident response, and helping developers adopt the tooling you build, with freedom to choose approaches and own the results.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in infrastructure, platform or SRE with at least one production service you were responsible for keeping up.
• Linux systems administration and debugging on bare metal and virtual machines.
• Kubernetes in production delivered through GitOps, including cluster upgrades you performed yourself.
• Infrastructure as code as your delivery form: Ansible and Terraform or OpenTofu, changes reviewed in merge requests.
• GitLab administration and GitLab CI in production, self-hosted or SaaS; depth with another CI system acceptable.
• Working knowledge of the Prometheus and Grafana ecosystem: you have run it for a team, written alert rules and dashboards, and can read PromQL.
• Written technical explanation for engineers outside your team: runbooks, notices, answers to requests.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to align with product teams and drive progress.
• English - upper-intermediate or higher to ensure clear communication within teams.

Responsibilities

• Run the observability platform and keep it healthy, onboard teams, watch cost and capacity, and maintain alerting.
• Run GitLab and the CI runner fleet: upgrades, capacity, access, backups and restore drills.
• Keep the rest of our services healthy with monitoring and runbooks.
• Deploy new services when requested: research options, pick a design, stand it up as code, with monitoring, backups and docs.
• Work with developers' requests: access, onboarding, pipeline problems, new exporters and dashboards; turn recurring ones into self-service.
• Run incidents: diagnose, mitigate impact, restore service, perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive changes.
• Write runbooks, onboarding guides, maintenance notices and status updates for engineers outside the team.
