Volpak, part of Coesia, is seeking an experienced R&D Engineering Lead based in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, Spain. You will guide the engineering team to design and verify packaging machinery modules, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and production release deliverables.

You will collaborate with Mechanical, Hardware and Software teams, manage KPIs, drive Design to Cost initiatives, and support manufacturing while traveling up to 20% worldwide when needed.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automation, or Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Extensive experience in packaging machine sector.
• Proficient with 3D CAD and PLM tooling (Windchill preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Agile development and cross-functional collaboration.

About the Role

Reporting to the R&D Supervisor, you will ensure that the product meets the agreed technical requirements, managing / coordinating the engineering team in the design phase. Main tasks and direct related responsibilities will be:

• Leader of the project within the Engineering function in charge of ensuring that the product meets the agreed technical requirements, managing / coordinating the engineering team in the design phase.
• Accountable and responsible for the design, define, verification and releasing in production plan of each module.
• Accountable and responsible for the system architecture and system integration and breakdown.
• Accountable and responsible for implementation of modules adjustments according to requirements.
• Collaborates closely with Mechanical, Hardware, and Software Development teams to ensure project requirements are effectively translated into technical solutions and successfully implemented.
• Ensures compliance with project KPIs, including technical performance, quality standards, cost targets, scheduling objectives, and administrative activities related to departmental operations (e.g., quotations, purchase requests, and related documentation).
• Supports the manufacturing and assembly process.
• Checks and approves the engineering deliverable final design dossier.
• Support and propose initiatives in Design to Cost.
• Ensure the properly handover from R&D to rest of the company.
• Regulatory compliance: knowledge of the company's safety, health and environmental protocols.

What You Need to Be Successful

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automation, or Electronic Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Remarkable experience in packaging machine sector.
• Proficient in modern 3D CAD systems integrated with PLM platforms. Experience with Windchill is preferred; knowledge of SolidWorks, Creo, and CATIA will also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles and mechanical design.
• Strong focus on innovation, with a proactive and curious mindset toward emerging technologies and innovative solutions.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies, combined with excellent cross-functional stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
• Availability to travel worldwide when needed (not more than 20% per year).
• Good level of English and Spanish language.
