Atlas Copco, based in Zaragoza, Spain, is seeking a hands-on Purchasing Manager to support a lean, cost-driven supply chain. You will develop sourcing strategies, maintain a robust global supplier base, and collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering to meet schedules and quality targets.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead a motivated team, drive cost reductions, and ensure adherence to Atlas Copco's ethics and safety standards while traveling to supplier sites globally.

Are you hands-on and self-driven, with proven experience in Purchasing, and wanting to continue your professional development in an international setting? If so, this may be your next mission! We have an exciting opportunity within Product Company Zaragoza, a company within the Portable Power and Flow division. The position will be based in Zaragoza (Spain) and will report to the General Manager.

Your Role

As Purchasing Manager of the Product Company Zaragoza, your mission is to support our business model with short and reliable component lead times, fast reaction to volume changes, cost leadership and lean purchasing processes. You will be reporting to the General Manager of the Product Company and you are part of the Management team. Your mission is also to develop and protect the company for the purchase of components for the assigned products and to bring the purchasing department to a higher level

Your day-to-day
  • Actively maintain a robust and reliable supply base both locally and globally to support operational excellence while striving to minimize total material costs.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams as well as suppliers to ensure manufacturing schedules are met with quality and timeliness.
  • Drive and champion cost reduction initiatives, working together with product companies within the division to identify synergies and optimize expenses.
  • Proactively seek creative solutions to reduce costs, benchmarking against other product companies to ensure competitive pricing and efficiency.
  • Ensure supplier quality management is rigorous and disciplined, focusing on critical metal works components with strict adherence to Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) processes.
  • Maintain supplier capacity, actively work to shorten lead-times, and optimize inventory levels to enhance supply chain responsiveness.
  • Identify and implement waste elimination strategies across the supply chain to improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Engage actively in New Product Introduction (PCM) and Product Quality Management (PQM) meetings to support continuous product and process improvement.
  • Promote supplier awareness and commitment to Atlas Copco’s stringent policies on environmental responsibility, social performance, safety, health, and business ethics.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a cohesive, skilled, and motivated team, ensuring alignment of talent with strategic objectives for sustained success.
Your skills and experience
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing sourcing strategies within a complex global industrial environment, aligning supply chain initiatives with business goals.
  • Innate curiosity and openness to innovation, combined with a strong understanding of both Product Company operations and commercial considerations.
  • Proven expertise in negotiating high-level contracts and fostering strategic supplier partnerships that drive value and mutual growth.
  • Highly task-oriented with a results-driven mindset, exhibiting excellent stress management and multitasking capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that support collaboration across diverse teams and organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for data management, reporting, and effective communication of progress and action plans.
  • Solid analytical abilities with comfort in financial analysis, budgeting, and interpreting complex data sets to inform decisions.
  • Committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in line with Atlas Copco’s Business Code of Practice, consistently demonstrating integrity and accountability.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to supplier sites globally, strengthening relationships and ensuring alignment to quality and delivery standards.
  • Fluency in English is essential, with Spanish language skills considered a strong advantage to enhance communication within the team and suppliers.
