Job summary

Frontiers seeks a Publishing Development Specialist to combine domain understanding with proactive outreach, working with researchers, editors and global communities to identify opportunities and generate high-quality submissions.

You will manage a dynamic sales pipeline, use AI tools to research prospects, and build long-term relationships with editors and authors, while representing journals at conferences and online events.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales, outreach, or business development with a proven track record of hitting targets.
• Able to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple projects.
• Strong English communication, both written and spoken.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, proactive and initiative-taking.
• Knowledge of AI-based tools in business operations is a plus.

About the role

As a Publishing Development Specialist at Frontiers, you will combine subject-area understanding with proactive outreach, consultative conversations and data-informed journal development. You will work with researchers, editors and academic communities worldwide to identify opportunities, build strong relationships and generate high-quality submissions for Frontiers journals.

Whatyou’lldo

• Reach out directly to researchers and editors to spark new collaborations, launch dedicated article collections, recruit into the Editorial Board, commission manuscripts, and liaise with Chief Editors ata journalsection level.

• Manage a dynamic sales pipeline, taking opportunities from first contact through to successful publication.

• Use AI tools daily to research prospects, personalize outreach, and manage your pipeline more efficiently.

• Cultivate trust and build long-term professional relationships witheditors and authors.

• Represent our journals at scientific conferences, webinars, and online events to increase their market footprint.

About You

• You bring experience insales, outreach, or business developmentwith a proventrack recordof hitting targets.

• You enjoy fast-paced environments, handle multiple projects with ease, and know how to prioritize your day.

• You have a strong grasp of AI-based tools in a business operations context. Experience using AI in sales or outreach workflows is a plus.

• You are a natural communicator who is persuasive, personable, and loves building professional relationships and your English is fluent, both spoken and written, as you will be communicating with global researchersand international teamsevery day.

• You have an entrepreneurial mindset, always looking foropportunitiesand taking the initiative to make things happen.

This opportunity may be particularly relevant if your background includes microbiology, cellular and infection microbiology, bioengineering, biotechnology, agronomy, soil science, environmental science, environmental chemistry, water research, food science, food technology or related life-science fields.
