Schneider Electric in Sevilla, Spain seeks a Product Operation Support Engineer for Distribution Automation (T300/T500/Saitel). The role focuses on investigating field failures, performing root-cause analysis to component level using 8D methodology, and delivering TEX reports to guide product improvements.

You will collaborate with global hardware design, L3 technical support and quality teams, support production and repair activities, and assist with obsolescence management.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of two years’ product hardware development experience.
  • Good knowledge of the complete hardware development lifecycle, including design-for-manufacture, test and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience preferred with protective relays, RTUs, modular products, or distribution-automation products, and familiarity with communication protocols and EMC design and test.
  • Proficiency with the 8D problem-solving process and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Team player with experience working in a multi-site development environment.
  • Strong documentation skills for producing high-quality internal and external reports.

Responsabilidades

  • Investigate customer product field failures and perform root‑cause analysis to component level using the 8D problem‑solving methodology, producing TEX reports.
  • Identify patterns in failure modes or potential hardware design weaknesses, and present possible root causes and solutions to global hardware design, L3 technical support and quality teams.
  • Provide technical support for production and repair activities when hardware failure trends are identified, including board‑level root‑cause failure analysis and support for corrective actions.
  • Support the global R&D teams with component obsolescence management by identifying alternative components and implementing test plans to confirm suitability.
  • Assist with hardware design issues identified during verification, validation or EMC testing of new and existing designs.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of Schneider Electric distribution automation products, including hardware design, product features, test tools and test philosophies, to deliver high‑quality technical support across all business areas.

Position

Product Operation Support Engineer – Distribution Automation (T300/T500/Saitel, potential protection relays). Location: Sevilla, Spain (option in the UK).

Responsibilities
  • Investigate customer product field failures and perform root‑cause analysis to component level using the 8D problem‑solving methodology, producing Technical Expertise Assessment (TEX) reports.
  • Identify patterns in failure modes or potential hardware design weaknesses, and present possible root causes and solutions to global hardware design, L3 technical support and quality teams.
  • Provide technical support for production and repair activities when hardware failure trends are identified, including board‑level root‑cause failure analysis and support for corrective actions.
  • Support the global R&D teams with component obsolescence management by identifying alternative components and implementing test plans to confirm suitability.
  • Assist with hardware design issues identified during verification, validation or EMC testing of new and existing designs.
