Job description

The Procurement Excellence Manager builds and runs the backbone of the new Procurement & Supply Chain department of IREN Spain: the procurement policy and procedures, the approval and compliance framework, the supplier qualification and performance programme, the procurement systems landscape (SAP MM, Procore as the e-procurement and construction procurement platform, and the CMMS interface for operations purchasing), the KPI and analytics reporting, and the administrative pool that supports the category managers. The role is accountable for making the department scalable, auditable and data-driven from day one.

Reporting to the Director of Procurement & Supply Chain and leading the Supplier Qualification Specialist, the Procurement Systems & Tools Specialist and the Procurement Administrative team, the role works closely with Finance, Legal, Internal Audit, IT and IREN’s global procurement function to align the Spanish operating model with group standards while adapting it to local legal and market requirements.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Procurement & Supply Chain, the Procurement Excellence Manager is responsible for:

  • Design, document and roll out the procurement operating model of IREN Spain: procurement policy and procedures, Delegation of Authority application, tender and award documentation standards, contract templates with Legal, segregation of duties and control points, aligned with group policies and auditable end to end.
  • Own procurement compliance: monitor adherence to policy and approval matrix, manage internal and external audit requests, track and close findings, and run the anti-corruption, conflict-of-interest, sanctions and ESG due-diligence requirements applicable to suppliers and contractors.
  • Lead the supplier qualification and performance programme through the Supplier Qualification Specialist: qualification criteria by category and risk, onboarding workflow, HSE/financial/legal/ESG checks, approved-supplier list, performance scorecards and periodic supplier reviews with the category managers.
  • Own the procurement systems landscape through the Procurement Systems & Tools Specialist: SAP MM configuration and master-data governance, implementation and governance of Procore as the e-procurement platform (bid management, contract and change-order management, supplier collaboration), its integration with SAP and with the CMMS for operations and maintenance purchasing, user access and approval workflows, and the roadmap of digitalisation initiatives.
  • Build and run the department’s reporting: spend cube and category analytics, savings and cost-avoidance methodology and tracking, cycle times, PO compliance, supplier performance, material-readiness and other KPIs, delivered through Power BI dashboards to the Director and management.
  • Lead the administrative pool: define the services provided to the category and supply chain managers (PO creation and maintenance, supplier onboarding data, document management, meeting and travel coordination, invoice-mismatch resolution with Finance) and ensure consistent quality and workload balance.
  • Drive continuous improvement and change management: process reviews with the category managers, lessons learned after major tenders, training and onboarding of new procurement staff on policy, systems and tools, and communication of procurement processes to internal clients.
  • Act as the department’s interface with Finance (budget and commitment reporting, accruals, payment terms), Internal Audit, Legal and IT for all process, control and system matters.
Requirements
  • Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain or a related discipline; CIPS or similar professional certification and/or an MBA are an asset.
  • 8-10 years of procurement experience, including at least 4 years in procurement excellence, procurement operations, process/governance or transformation roles in capital-intensive or project-driven companies (data centers, energy, infrastructure, industrial).
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing procurement policies, procedures and control frameworks, and managing internal/external audits and compliance programmes (anti-corruption, sanctions, ESG due diligence).
  • Hands-on experience with SAP MM and with e-procurement / construction procurement platforms - experience implementing or administering Procore (bid management, commitments, change orders) is highly valued - and solid understanding of CMMS-driven maintenance purchasing.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills: spend analysis, savings methodologies, KPI design and Power BI / advanced Excel; experience building a reporting function from scratch is highly valued.
  • Experience leading small teams and administrative or shared-service functions, and strong stakeholder management with Finance, Legal, Audit and IT.
  • Structured, pragmatic and hands-on, able to build processes while the department is already running at full speed.
  • Fluent Spanish and professional English are required; based in Madrid with occasional travel to the Badajoz sites.
