The PROMISE project aims to advance the application of Laser-Based Directed Energy Deposition (DED-LB/w) for the manufacturing and repair of high-performance metallic components used in space propulsion systems. The project will develop and optimize additive manufacturing processes for thermally resistant and refractory alloys, integrating experimental characterization, numerical simulation, digital twins, and realtime process monitoring. Particular emphasis will be placed on process traceability and digital certification through the acquisition and analysis of large volumes of manufacturing data. The research will address key challenges related to materialprocess interaction, component design, surface performance, and quality assurance, culminating in the fabrication and validation of a full-scale thrust nozzle demonstrator. PROMISE is expected to generate new scientific knowledge in advanced manufacturing technologies while contributing to the digitalization, sustainability, and competitiveness of the European aerospace sector.
Degree in Industrial Technology Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
