Mercury Mission Systems Spain is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead embedded avionics software efforts in Getafe (Madrid), Spain. The role blends hands-on development with technical leadership across projects to meet certification requirements.

You will coordinate internal teams and subcontractors, develop software in C/C++, and support DO-178C audits. Fluency in English is required, with experience in Linux/VxWorks environments.

Formación

• Master's degree in Information Technology or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proven industrial experience as an embedded software engineer.
• Strong knowledge of DO-178C and DO-330.
• Experience with avionics RTOS BSPs and software lifecycles.
• Linux kernel driver development experience.
• Software project management skills: task definition, planning, progress tracking.
• Fluent English.

Responsabilidades

• Lead software activities across avionics projects.
• Specify, design, code and test embedded avionics software.
• Develop and integrate software modules in C/C++.
• Work with Linux kernel drivers, VxWorks 653, RTOS BSPs and application software.
• Establish software plans and track project delivery.

Principal Software Engineer

Are you an experienced embedded software engineer looking to lead complex software activities within the avionics sector?

Mercury is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to combine hands‑on software development with technical leadership across avionics projects. You will help shape software plans, coordinate activities across internal teams and subcontractors, and ensure software delivery aligns with project and certification requirements.

What you'll be doing

• Leading software activities across avionics projects
• Specifying, designing, coding and testing embedded avionics software
• Developing and integrating software modules in C/C++
• Working with Linux kernel drivers, VxWorks 653, RTOS BSPs and application software
• Establishing software plans and tracking project delivery against them
• Supporting software verification and developing verification scripts in Python
• Coordinating internal teams and subcontractors responsible for verification activities
• Providing technical software support to customers and supporting DO-178C audits
• Preparing basis-of-estimate inputs for software activities

What we're looking for
