Role Summary

Sklum Digital & AI is looking for a Principal to own content programming and engagement design for the new Sklum App. You'll decide what content lives in the app, for whom, in what cadence, and with what commercial intent — and you'll design the habit loops that determine whether someone opens the app once or comes back every week. You'll report to the Director of Growth and work as a hands‑on principal: writing the content briefs yourself, designing the engagement mechanics yourself, and walking the app the way a customer would, regularly. This is a build role on a small, lean team. It ships.

Why This Role Exists

Most ecommerce apps treat content as marketing bolted onto a transactional surface — a blog tab, a banner rotation, a newsletter. We're building it differently: content as a core product capability from day one, with its own surfaces, rules, and rituals, sitting alongside product information and checkout as a first‑class part of the app. Return visits aren't a metric to chase after launch. They're something we design for from the start, through content that teaches the app what a customer likes, rewards them for coming back, and gives every visit a reason to exist beyond "browse and leave." Someone needs to own that design personally, end to end, not coordinate it across three teams.

What You'll Own

Editorial programming. Own the full editorial layer of the app — what content exists, who it's for, how often it appears, and what commercial intent sits behind it. Buying guides, room inspiration, product storytelling, seasonal moments, and sales content that reads as one voice and one journey, not a stack of disconnected marketing modules.

Habit‑formation and return‑visit design. Design the rituals, hooks, surprises, and feedback loops that make returning to the app feel rewarding rather than prompted. Own the levers that drive installs in the first place — install prompts, launch campaigns, and the path from web visitor to app user — and the levers that bring people back after: push notification strategy, content cadence, lifecycle moments, and the "why come back this week" question the app has to answer on a rolling basis. Partner with the loyalty program on how earning moments, status, and member‑exclusive content show up as engagement mechanics inside the app.

Interactive content formats. Design content moments that feel native to the app rather than bolted on — the style quiz is the flagship example: a mechanic that teaches the app what a customer likes, gives them an early reason to engage, and bridges inspiration into a relevant product recommendation. You'll originate formats like this, not just execute a brief for one.

Content calendar ownership. Run the content calendar alongside the commercial calendar, so every sales moment, product launch, seasonal push, and brand campaign gets expressed in the app with the right depth and the right format — not a generic banner for every occasion.

Cross‑functional partnership. Sit at the intersection of product, UX design, engineering, brand, commercial, and regional teams. Partner closely with the Principal on Customer Branding & GTM — they own how the app launches and grows market by market, you own what runs inside it once someone's there. Work hand‑in‑hand with brand and creative on voice and visual language, and with UX design and engineering on how content and engagement surfaces actually get built. No intermediaries between you and the people you ship alongside.

Agentic content practice. Use coding agents and autonomous workflows as a core part of how you brief, prototype, analyze, and ship — matching the standard the engineering team already operates at. Set the human‑in‑the‑loop guardrails and quality bar that let agentic workflows safely touch customer‑facing content, and keep pushing where automation can replace or augment manual content and analysis work.

What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years in content strategy, content programming, editorial product, or a closely related discipline for a consumer‑facing digital product — strong candidates from adjacent backgrounds are welcome if the content‑plus‑engagement combination is real
  • Deep, hands‑on experience programming content for a digital product at scale, where content is treated as a product capability with its own surfaces and rules, not a marketing channel with a publishing calendar
  • Genuine habit‑formation or retention design experience — you've built the rituals and feedback loops that drive return visits, not just scheduled push notifications
  • Ecommerce or commerce‑adjacent sales‑content instinct — buying guides that convert, product storytelling that earns brand permission, sales content that doesn't read as spam
  • Experience designing at least one interactive or native content format (a quiz, a configurator, a personalization mechanic) that did double duty as both engagement and data signal
  • Personal, hands‑on use of agentic tooling — coding agents or autonomous workflows as part of your own day‑to‑day practice, not a team initiative you sponsored
  • Principal‑level individual contributor track record — you've personally written the briefs and shipped the programs, not managed people who did
  • Comfortable operating across cultures, time zones, and a distributed, async‑first team, with real partnership instincts toward regional teams who know their market better than any central function does
  • Strong written and verbal English; working Spanish is a plus given the base and the multi‑market scope
  • Experience in home, lifestyle, design, fashion, or interiors is a strong plus — furniture or home decor specifically further still, though not required
Location, Comp & Benefits

Why Sklum

Sklum is PE‑backed, profitable, and scaling — what you build here reaches real consumer scale across Europe, not a slide deck that gets shelved after a funding round. You'll shape the content and engagement foundation of a digital product being built in real time, with the autonomy of a principal IC and the backing of a lean team that treats agentic ways of working as a first‑class operating principle, not an experiment layered on top.
