Job summary

Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) in Barcelona is seeking an early-stage predoctoral researcher to develop their career through structured training and active participation in high-quality scientific projects. You will undertake doctoral-level research under supervision, developing scientific, technical and transferable skills.

Qualifications

• University degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biomedicine, Veterinary Medicine, or related discipline.
• Bachelor average grade of 8 out of 10 in the Bachelor's degree.
• Master's degree with ≥300 ECTS credits (or equivalent) enabling doctoral studies.
• Meet eligibility for the FPU2026 call (no prior FPU grant, no doctoral degree, <=12 months predoctoral).
• English proficiency at CEFR level B2 or higher.
• Accredited training in laboratory animal science.
• Previous scientific publications.
• Experience undertaking research stays abroad.

Responsibilities

• Develop and complete a doctoral research project and thesis focused on addressing a clinical need in cardiology.
• Conduct high-quality translational research with in vitro and in vivo models, data collection, statistics, and literature review.
• Contribute to experimental design, protocol development, and implementation of methodologies.
• Collaborate with senior researchers and team members, contributing to publications and communications.
• Present and discuss research findings at group meetings, conferences, and seminars.
• Participate in doctoral training, scientific events, and professional development.
• Foster knowledge exchange within the group and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Be enrolled in a doctoral program and manage responsibilities to advance the research project.
