ARQUIMEA, a technology company based at the Nanotec Building in Tenerife, seeks a researcher to help develop innovative biosensing technologies and contribute across medical device projects.

You will design, prototype, validate sensors and work on functionalization, integration, testing and performance characterization while collaborating with diverse teams and preparing technical proposals.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biomedical Engineering with PhD-focused biosensing/medical devices is ideal.
• Early-career PhD (<3 years post-PhD) with biosensing or medical devices research experience is preferred.
• Hands-on biosensor design, prototyping, optimization and validation experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to produce high-quality documentation.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, integrate and validate biosensing platforms including point-of-care and continuous biosensing technologies.
• Develop and optimize sensor prototypes, including functionalization, integration, testing and performance characterization.
• Conceptualize, plan and prepare research proposals for innovation and new research lines.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports and presentations; contribute to lab workflows and good practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal and external teams; support US expansion activities.

Main function and scope

• Contribute to the development of innovative biosensing technologies
• Transition across related medical device technologies
• We are looking for an energetic, hands-on and highly adaptable researcher who enjoys working across different projects and technologies in a dynamic, startup-like R&D environment.

Primary Functions

• Design, develop, integrate and experimentally validate biosensing platforms including point-of-care and continuous biosensing technologies.
• Develop and optimize sensor prototypes, including functionalization, integration, testing and performance characterization.
• Conceptualize, plan and prepare research proposals from recognizing and exploiting opportunities for innovation and progress for further development or creation of new lines of research.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, presentations and research proposals.
• Contribute to lab organization, experimental workflows and good laboratory practices
• Rapidly learn and adapt to new projects, technologies and technical challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal and external teams.
• Support US expansion activities, including technical collaborations and external R&D opportunities.
• Other reasonable duties as required.

Required experience and candidate profile

• The candidate may have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering followed by a Ph.D. focused on biosensing, bioengineering, medical devices or a closely related field.
• Early-career Ph.D. profile (<3 years post-PhD) with demonstrated research experience in biosensing and/or medical devices

Specific Training / Knowledge Required in

• Hands-on experience in biosensor design, prototyping, optimization and validation.
• Experience with medical devices is desirable.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; experienced in producing high quality technical and scientific documentation.
• Curiosity and bold attitude to venturing into novel R&D domains.
• Strong proficiency in English.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in medical device/biotechnology industry and technology transfer
• Experience in electrochemical biosensors, bioconjugation methods and characterization techniques.
• A record of authorship of scientific papers, reports, grant applications or patents.
• Experience contributing to grant applications or research proposals
• A record of science innovation and creativity, including out-of-the-box thinking in finding solutions to challenges.

This position will be based at the Nanotec Building in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife.
