Job summary

Rakuten TV, a leading streaming platform, offers a hybrid internship opportunity in Barcelona. You will support daily operations, learn IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation, and contribute to monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk while scripting in Python and Bash.

You will work with GitHub Actions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, joining Agile ceremonies and gaining hands-on cloud experience in a global media company.

Qualifications

• Final-year Bachelor’s student in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related technical field.
• Interest in distributed systems, cloud architecture, and high-traffic applications.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to communicate technical problems in English.
• Exposure to Linux and basic scripting (Python/Bash) and introductory cloud concepts (AWS).
• Interest in AI tools as productivity multipliers.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily operational tickets and incident response tasks.
• Learn and apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and CloudFormation for AWS.
• Help maintain monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.
• Write Python and Bash scripts to automate repetitive tasks.

What You Will Do (Responsibilities)

• Operational Support: Assist the team in handling daily operational tickets, gaining hands-on experience with incident response and system troubleshooting.
• Infrastructure Management: Learn and apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform and CloudFormation to manage our AWS environment.
• Observability: Help maintain and improve our monitoring stack (Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk) to ensure high availability and visibility into our services.
• Automation: Utilize Python and Bash to write scripts that automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual toil, and improve team efficiency.
• CI/CD Collaboration: Support the deployment pipelines via GitHub Actions, collaborating with various product and engineering teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Agile Participation: Engage in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, contributing to a fast-paced environment where stability and innovation go hand-in-hand.

Who You Are (Requirements)

• Academic Background: Currently in your final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
• Technical Curiosity: A genuine interest in distributed systems, cloud architecture, and the "how it works" behind high-traffic applications.
• Soft Skills: Proactivity: You don't wait for tasks; you look for ways to help and learn.
• Communication: You can clearly articulate technical problems and solutions in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Growth Mindset: You are comfortable starting with basic knowledge and are eager to bridge the gap through mentorship and self-study.
• Technical Foundation: Exposure to Linux, basic scripting (Python/Bash), and an introductory understanding of cloud concepts (AWS).
