University of Lleida, through the Postharvest Microbiology and Technology Research Group, invites applications for a PhD in Food Microbiology and Molecular Biology. The project is part of GENE2PRODUCT and aims to understand spoilage mechanisms in fruit juices, focusing on guaiacol production by Alicyclobacillus and strategies to reduce it.

The candidate will engage in microbiology, molecular biology and applied research, with opportunities for training and predoctoral fellowship applications.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a relevant field and a strong academic record.
• Good command of English and interest in experimental research.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsabilidades

• Characterisation of Alicyclobacillus strains and their guaiacol-producing capacity.
• Study genetic and metabolic factors associated with guaiacol formation.
• Evaluate conditions to reduce guaiacol production in acidic beverages.
• Data analysis, interpretation and dissemination of results.
