IDEADED is seeking a Patent Engineer to join our on-site team in Viladecans. You will work closely with scientists and engineers to identify patentable inventions and translate complex technologies into valuable IP assets, guiding protection strategy aligned with our roadmap.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of relevant experience in patent firms, tech transfer offices, or R&D environments, with strong English writing skills and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.

Responsabilidades

• Work with R&D to identify potentially patentable inventions.
• Support inventors in preparing invention disclosures.
• Perform prior-art searches and patentability analyses.
• Assist in prosecution of patent applications across multiple jurisdictions.
• Draft patent applications where appropriate.
• Monitor patent activity and conduct landscape analyses.
• Support freedom-to-operate analyses and identify third-party rights.
• Coordinate with external patent counsel as needed.

Role Description The Patent Engineer is a full time on-site position in Viladecans. The role involves working closely with scientists and engineers to identify potentially patentable inventions, assess protection opportunities and translate complex technical developments into valuable intellectual property assets. The Patent Engineer provides guidance, and help optimise IP protection aligned with IDEADED's business and technology roadmap. This position is an opportunity to work at the forefront of quantum and semiconductor technologies and play an active role throughout the full lifecycle of intellectual property assets, to develop an in-house IP profile while working with emerging quantum and/or semiconductor technologies

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the R&D team to identify and capture potentially patentable inventions.
• Support inventors in preparing invention disclosures.
• Perform prior-art searches and prepare patentability analyses.
• Support the prosecution of patent applications across multiple jurisdictions, including reviewing office actions and coordinating technical input from inventors.
• Prepare instructions and technical arguments for external patent counsel.
• Draft patent applications when appropriate, with support depending on the candidate's level of experience.
• Monitor relevant patent activity, technology developments and competitor portfolios.
• Conduct and contribute to patent landscape analysis to support R&D, IP and business decision-making.
• Give support to freedom-to-operate analyses and identify potentially relevant third-party rights.

Qualifications

• Degree in physics, quantum technologies, semiconductor engineering, materials science, microelectronics, or a closely related technical field
• Strong technical expertise in at least one of the following areas: Quantum technologies, Semiconductor devices or manufacturing, Microelectronics, Materials science.
• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within a patent firm, or/and technology transfer office, a research institution, an innovation department or a technology company.
• Prior experience in semiconductor, deep tech, or "beyond silicon" technologies is highly beneficial.
• Solid analytical skills to assess inventions, perform prior art reviews, and evaluate patentability.
• Knowledge of patent law and procedures, and understanding of intellectual property concepts and strategies.
• Detail-oriented working style with strong organizational skills for managing multiple IP matters in parallel.
• Experience searching patent databases (Espacenet, PatBase, etc.).
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, specifically to communicate effectively with scientists, engineers, and patent professionals.
• Clear and concise communication skills in English, including technical writing.
• Proficiency in English; additional language skills are an advantage.
