Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Solid Waste Operator to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role covers sorting, recycling, collection, transportation, and disposal of solid waste, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Responsibilities include operating SWMC-approved equipment, inspections, and maintaining records. The candidate must have 1–3 years of experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain visas for deployment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in solid waste operations or waste management.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to safely operate equipment listed in the SWMC O&M manual.
• Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety standards related to waste handling, processing, and disposal.
• Effective communication skills in English (written and oral).

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and machinery required for solid waste operations in accordance with the SWMC O&M manual.
• Conduct inspections, monitoring, and maintenance of solid waste equipment and vehicles.
• Safely operate heavy equipment such as loaders, compactors, excavators, balers, and other machinery.
• Adhere to environmental and waste handling regulations to prevent contamination.
• Perform site cleanup, waste segregation, and recycling preparation.
• Monitor waste collection sites and containers and report issues.
• Maintain records of waste collected, transported, and disposed of.
• Provide support for hazardous materials handling and documentation for environmental compliance.
