IQUADRAT INFORMATICA S.L, a Barcelona-based technology company, seeks researchers in quantum networks and system-level evaluation tools for telecom applications. The role focuses on QKD, quantum networking architectures, and AI-driven orchestration within EU-funded Horizon Europe projects.

The successful candidate will collaborate in a European research environment, publish findings, and participate in outreach activities while enjoying a flexible work arrangement and a central Barcelona

Formación

• Outstanding oral and writing English skills.
• Strong knowledge of quantum networking and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with quantum networking simulators.
• Good publication record in scientific peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience in EU-funded projects is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out research activities related to quantum key distribution (QKD) systems and their integration into secure network infrastructures.
• Develop quantum networking architectures and AI-driven orchestration mechanisms for quantum networks.
• Participate in 5G/6G and IoT R&D projects and represent IQU in meetings and initiatives.
• Contribute to preparation of research funding proposals.
• Present at scientific conferences in the area.
• Represent IQU in exhibitions like Mobile World Congress Forum and IoT events.

IQU R&D has been providing global solutions and services in the use of Internet and Telecommunications to companies and institutions that use information and communication technologies in commercial, marketing, management and business communication areas. IQU’s R&D has a focused business plan specifically intended on delivering a “new generation of tools for system level evaluation of wireless integrated communication systems towards the society digital transformation”. The R&D has extensive know-how in new concepts such as network/RAN virtualization, programmable networks, network slicing, cell-free, Artificial Intelligence and is also active in the fast-growing IoT paradigm with a plethora of vertical use cases. IQU´s R&D offers well established experimentation tools in 5G/6G and IoT. IQU is active in many EU funded research projects related to 5G, 6G, Smart Grid and IoT in collaboration with big European vendors and operators.

IQU´s R&D department is looking for several Researchers in the framework of the ongoing Horizon Europe and SNS-JU projects. The work focuses on the analytical evaluation of the proposed solutions as well as proof of concepts in inhouse experimentation platforms contributing to the products portfolio of the R&D´s department. The successful applicant should have a PhD degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering or Computer Science.

Tasks

• Carry out research activities related to quantum key distribution (QKD) systems and their integration into secure network infrastructures, develop quantum networking architectures integrating quantum communication with classical networks, AI-driven orchestration mechanisms for quantum networks, contribute to quantum internet protocol stack design
• Be in contact and work with cutting-edge technology, validated at our in-house experimental platforms.
• Work in challenging 5G/6G and IoT R&D projects and represent the company in project meetings and research initiatives.
• Participate in the preparation of research funding proposals
• Participate in scientific conference in the area
• Represent IQU in exhibitions like Mobile World Congress Forum, IoT Solutions World Congress, Smart Cities Expo etc.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

• Outstanding oral and writing English skills
• Good knowledge of current technology trends related to quantum communication, network protocol design and distributed systems, digital twins for quantum networks and QKD protocols
• Familiarity with quantum networking simulators
• Good publication record in scientific peer-reviewed journals

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, SNS JU, Quantum).
• Familiarity with 6G architectures and integration of quantum technologies into future networks.
• Knowledge of post-quantum cryptography and hybrid security frameworks.
• Experience in participating international research funding projects

Benefits

A full-time contract, with a probation period of 6 months is offered. The starting date is flexible from September-October 2026.

You will work in an open space office environment in the centre of Barcelona, which promotes creativity, innovation, and collaborative research among senior and early-stage researchers. You can also choose to work from home, but you may need to attend the office whenever is needed for meetings or for teamwork.

The rank and salary will be determined according to qualifications and work experience and will be varying between 35 and 42k.
