Ryanair Labs, the technology arm of Ryanair, is seeking an experienced .NET Payments Developer to join our Payments Engineering Team. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable payment services, integrating with multiple providers and ensuring high reliability and security for millions of transactions annually.

Based in Madrid, this role offers a hybrid work model with up to three days remote per week, in a modern office environment.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced.NET Payments Developerto join our Payments Engineering Team, working alongside talented engineers located in Dublin, Lisbon and Wroclaw. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain highly scalable payment solutions that process millions of transactions annually, while ensuring exceptional reliability, security, and customer experience throughout the payment journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and resilient payment services using modern .NET technologies and Agile methodologies.
• Build and enhance integrations with multiple payment providers, acquirers, gateways, and alternative payment methods.
• Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of mission-critical payment systems operating at high transaction volumes.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Finance, and commercial stakeholders to define and deliver new payment capabilities.
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of Ryanair's payment ecosystem, focusing on scalability, observability, and operational excellence.
• Drive engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
• Monitor and optimize payment flows to improve conversion rates, reduce failures, and enhance the customer payment experience.
• Participate in technical reviews, solution design workshops, and showcases with business stakeholders.
• Support the introduction of new payment methods and emerging payment technologies across Ryanair's digital channels.
• Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

Qualifications

• Strong experience developing enterprise applications using C# and .NET Core / .NET.
• Proven experience building and supporting payment platforms, transaction processing systems, or financial technology applications.
• Experience integrating with third-party payment gateways, payment service providers, and financial APIs.
• Solid understanding of payment processing concepts, including authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, chargebacks, and reconciliation.
• Experience delivering cloud-native microservices in AWS environments is a plus, using services such as ECS, EKS, SNS, SQS, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes would be valuable.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong understanding of automated testing, unit testing, and integration testing.
• Ability to develop robust, high-volume, customer-facing applications in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
