Smadex, a leading ad-tech company based in Barcelona, seeks an ML Engineer to join our team. You will contribute to architectural decisions and build scalable ML models, with a focus on deep learning and real-world data analytics.

You will work across data science and engineering to deploy end-to-end solutions, tackle advanced modeling challenges, and deliver insights to stakeholders. A Master’s degree and strong ML background are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python/Scala/Java for ML/DS tasks.
• Strong understanding of ML/DL algorithms and modeling techniques.
• Experience with data warehousing and SQL.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architectural decisions and develop ML models, especially deep learning models.
• Design, implement, and evaluate predictive models and analytics solutions.
• Combine ML science with data engineering to deploy end-to-end scalable pipelines.
• Analyze data from multiple sources to provide actionable insights for business and engineering teams.
• Tackle modeling challenges like sparse positives and labeling delays.

What will you do:

• You will be part of all the major architectural decisions and developments we make on our algorithms, especially in our state-of-the-art deep learning models.
• You will be responsible for proposing and developing new models, measuring the performance and improving our algorithms.
• Our ML Engineer role combines the classic "ML Scientist" and "Data Engineer" role at other companies
• You will also play an analytical role researching, designing, implementing, and deploying full-stack scalable data analytics and machine learning solutions to challenge business issues, as well as working closely with our Tech and Ops team
• You will work on unique modeling challenges not covered in the scientific literature, like extreme positive sample sparsity and labeling delay.
• Analyse data from different sources and provide actionable insights to business and engineering stakeholders

What you need to have:

• Very strong coding ability in at least one of the following: Python, Scala, Java
• Knowledge of Bitbucket/Git version tools
• Experience in machine learning and predictive modelling: deep neural networks, logistic regression, clustering and time series analysis & auto-regressive models
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical significance tests)
• Experience working with SQL and data warehousing
• Problem solving oriented mentality and a very proactive approach
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and sense of accountability
• Detail-oriented, well organized, and able to multi-task in a results-oriented business environment
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Fluency in English.
• Extra points for :-)Master’s degree in Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, Applied mathematics, Computer Science
• Proficiency in building high-performance algorithms in production
• Experience with transformer architectures and LLMs.
• Experience with reporting and data visualization tools such as Jupyter Notebook, Zeppelin, Tableau, Periscope, PowerBI or others
• Experience in digital marketing platforms and user acquisition
• Experience with and Apache Spark and Nodejs programming language
• Familiarity with AWS services such as EMR, EC2, Athena, S3, Redshift
• Used to Linux environments
