Amentum seeks a Lead SATCOM Electronics Technician to lead a SATCOM team on the Diego Garcia deployment for a US government contract. You will oversee setup, configuration, operation, and maintenance of fixed and tactical satellite terminals, ensuring performance and reliability in a remote BIOT environment.

Responsibilities include hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, and training of users, with on-call support 24/7.

Formación

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completed US Navy Electronics Technician SATCOM C school or equivalent training.
  • Six years of progressive technical experience in electronics or related fields.
  • Four years of specialized experience in electronic theory and maintenance of communications equipment in the last six years.

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Lead SATCOM Electronics Technician to support a government contract based on the island of Diego Garcia.

PURPOSE / SCOPE

The Lead SATCOM Electronics Technician is responsible for leading the SATCOM Electronics Team in setting-up, packing, configuring, operating, and maintaining satellite terminals (fixed and tactical) along with associated assemblies and providing technical assistance and training to users.

Other duties may include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Serves as a hands‑on, working shift for configuration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SATCOM Terminals.
  • Installs equipment according to manufacturer's specifications - Interprets maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Converses with customer, co‑workers or supervisor on equipment configuration and provides instruction on operation of equipment.
  • Consults with unit co‑workers to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  • May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements.
  • Training, mentoring, scheduling and participating in recruiting, operational and separations as required for department.
  • Assist co‑workers in servicing and repairing SATCOM related equipment and/or items.
  • Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
  • Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  • Leads testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in support of a safe working environment.
  • Perform all other position related duties, as assigned, or requested.

The Lead SATCOM Electronics Technician will be available for on‑call support as needed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of US Navy Electronics Technician SATCOM C school or equivalent training in electronics that provides skills and knowledge necessary to acquire and maintain satellite uplink/downlink, perform crypto restarts, perform organizational level repairs to up converters, down converters, power amplifiers, servo systems and ancillary equipment with emphasis on corrective and preventative maintenance is desired
  • Six years general experience having progressively responsible technical or craft experience in electronics, electricity, engineering, communication, physics, or in a similar field that provided technical knowledge and background that could be applied in the testing, evaluation, installation, maintenance or repair of electronic systems and equipment
  • Within the last six years, four years specialized experience in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory and of characteristics, functions, diagnosing, isolating and correcting malfunctions and performing organizational level maintenance on communications and electronic equipment
  • Must be familiar with current global, US, Program and PWS requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport and driver's license throughout employment in this role
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring
  • Ability to successfully pass the medical contract requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain country‑specific visas as required by the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide
WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies
  • Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds
  • Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • May work in a typical office environment
  • This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in offices, industrial warehouses, ports, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
