The role covers supervision of the Base Communications Office, telecom distribution, switch operations, and related infrastructure to ensure mission readiness.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in government or military installations, BICSI certification, and proven supervisory experience in austere overseas environments.

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Base Communications Officer (BCO) Supervisor to support a government contract based on the island of Diego Garcia.

PURPOSE / SCOPE

The BCO Supervisor shares responsibility for overall supervision and performance of Base Communications Office operations, including, but not limited to Base Telecommunications Distribution System,including switch operations, switchboard operations, inside plant telephoneswitch maintenance, inside plant station equipment, customer premise cabling,outside plant fiber optic / copper cables, and other equipment in support of thetelephone switching system, as well as all other systems supported by BaseCommunications infrastructures. BCO Site Manager will perform duties to ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS). The BCO Supervisor may be designated as redel when BCO Site Manager is offsite and perform other duties as assigned.

The BCO Supervisor will be available within 30 minutes to meet with Government personnel and / or Program leadership as required 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline preferred; two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college
• At least five (5) years of experience in Base Communications Office operations on a government contract or at a military installation.
• Will be BICSI Registered Technician Level certified orhigher
• Three years' experience in a supervisory role in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce
• Must be experienced in all aspects of operating and maintaining the Base Telecommunications Distribution System, including switch operations, switchboard operations, inside plant telephone switch maintenance, inside plant station equipment, customer premise cabling, outside plant fiber optic / copper cables, and other equipment in support of the telephone switching system, as well as all other systems supported by Base Communications infrastructure.
• Supervisors assigned to the installation of this system or any of its componentsshall have proof of industry or industry approved certification from eachequipment manufacturer indicating that they are qualified to install and test theprovided products.
• Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport and driver's license throughout employment in this role
• Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring
• Ability to successfully pass the medical contract requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas as required by the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies
• Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds
• Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
• May also work in a typical office environment
• This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in offices, industrial warehouses, ports, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
