Velocity Tech in Barcelona is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to own the AI strategy while remaining hands-on in the design, development and deployment of production‑grade AI systems. You’ll influence the technical direction in a small, high‑caliber team and directly shape the product’s future.

This role focuses on building agentic AI workflows, LLM‑based applications and robust evaluation loops, with emphasis on observability, latency, cost optimisation and system resilience.

Formación

• Strong backend experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience building agentic AI systems or multi-agent frameworks.
• Experience with LangGraph or similar AI frameworks.
• Good understanding of model evaluation, observability and AI system reliability.
• Solid ML/NLP fundamentals and architectural leadership experience.
• Startup or scale-up experience is highly desirable.

We’re looking for a Lead AI Engineer to take ownership of the company’s AI strategy while remaining hands‑on in the design, development, and deployment of production‑grade AI systems. This is an opportunity to join a small, high‑calibre engineering team where you’ll have a direct influence on both the technical direction and future of the product.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the design and development of production‑ready AI systems built around LLMs and agentic workflows.
• Build intelligent multi‑step agent frameworks capable of solving complex business problems.
• Design robust evaluation, testing and feedback loops to continually improve AI performance.
• Develop reliable, scalable AI applications with a focus on observability, latency, cost optimisation and system resilience.
• Work closely with founders and senior leadership to define the company’s AI strategy and technical roadmap.
• Transform complex real‑world processes into reliable, auditable AI‑driven solutions.
• Research, evaluate and implement the latest advancements across AI and machine learning technologies.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience building backend applications in Python.
• Hands‑on experience building agentic AI systems, multi‑agent workflows or orchestration frameworks.
• Experience working with modern AI frameworks such as LangGraph or similar.
• Good understanding of model evaluation, observability and AI system reliability.
• Solid machine learning and NLP fundamentals.
• Experience influencing technical direction and making architectural decisions around AI products.
