Biorce is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to architect and guide scalable AI/ML systems, mentoring a small team of engineers and shaping production-ready services. You will drive technical strategy, evaluate new techniques, and collaborate with cross‑functional partners to accelerate drug development through AI.

You will operate in a hybrid role based in Barcelona or Austin, balancing hands-on implementation with leadership and mentorship, in a fast-paced healthtech environment.

Formación

• 5+ years in AI/ML software engineering with 2+ years in leadership roles.
• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• Proficient in Python and frameworks like LangChain.
• Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Milvus) and API design (FastAPI/Flask).
• Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

• Technical Leadership: Lead end-to-end design, development and deployment of scalable AI/ML solutions.
• Team Mentorship: Coach a small team of 2–4 AI engineers, review code, guide architecture.
• System Architecture: Oversee transition from notebook prototypes to production services with high availability.
• R&D: Stay updated on AI research, prototype techniques like RAG, fine-tuning, quantization.

About the role

We are seeking a Lead AI Engineer with a proven track record of designing sophisticated AI systems and the leadership maturity to guide a high‑performing technical team. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of architectural design, hands‑on development, and strategic mentorship. This is a hybrid role based in either Barcelona or Austin.

Core Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Lead the end‑to‑end design, development, and deployment of scalable AI/ML solutions.
• Team Mentorship: Manage and mentor a team of 2–4 AI engineers, conducting code reviews, providing architectural guidance, and facilitating professional development.
• System Architecture: Oversee the transition from experimental notebooks to production‑grade services, ensuring high availability and low latency.
• R&D: Stay at the forefront of AI research, evaluating and prototyping new techniques (e.g., RAG, fine‑tuning, quantization) to maintain a competitive edge.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years in AI/ML - Software Engineering, with at least 2 years in a formal or informal leadership/lead role.
• Education: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• Programming: Mastery of Python and deep familiarity with frameworks like LangChain.
• Architecture: Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Milvus) and API design (FastAPI/Flask).
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Generative AI and LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex).
• Experience managing agile workflows.
