Job summary

Almirall's Barcelona research team is seeking a talented laboratory assistant with experience in in vivo pharmacology. The role supports our small molecule and biologics pipeline from discovery to preclinical development.

You will perform in vivo studies, manage experiments, maintain records, and collaborate to advance high-quality drug candidates. A strong background in biomedical sciences and animal handling is required, with English considered a plus.

Qualifications

• Higher National Diploma in sciences (FP2) with lab focus.
• 5+ years in biomedical pharmacology research.
• 2+ years in a research lab.
• EU license for laboratory animal work is required.
• Proficiency in mouse handling and dosing.
• Ability to process and analyze tissue from rodents.
• Experience with RT-PCR, ELISA, Flow Cytometry, Western Blot desirable.
• Software: Prism, FlowJo, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• English communication is a plus.

Mission

Our research team in Barcelona is strengthening its core experimental department and is looking for a talented laboratory assistant with experience in in vivo Pharmacology. The team is enabling the small molecule and biologics pipeline from discovery up to preclinical development,and is co-responsible for the delivery of high quality therapeutic drug candidates with a high potential for success in clinical development.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Perform in vivo studies to answer scientific questions and to characterize MoA and efficacy of compounds including new drug candidates
• Perform laboratory experiments and procedures, using state of the art laboratory equipment, recording and checking results for completeness and accuracy
• Plan and initiate established and new experimental approaches with a high level of independence
• Analyse and interpret experimental results and prepare reports/presentations
• Assist team members in the planning and execution of experiments.
• Carry out all laboratory activities in compliance with applicable regulations and protocols.
• Conduct literature searches and reviews, compiling information for journals and suggest uses for new techniques to the team.
• Maintain records of results and methodologies in electronic laboratory notebook.
• Maintain equipment, lab area and supplies in a neat professional manner
• Attend courses, lectures and conferences to further own knowledge on research and laboratory techniques, consulting with other researchers to exchange information.
• Contribute to an enriching, positive and inclusive lab environment.

Education & Experience

• Higher National Diploma in technical education (FP2) on sciences
• +5 years of experience working in biomedical research laboratory in the pharmacology field or Bs of science
• +2 years of experience in a research lab.
• Holding a EU license to work in procedures and projects on laboratory animal science or equivalent is a must
• Proficiency in mouse handling and dosing (intradermal, intralesional, topical intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, intravenous, and oral gavage)
• Ability to independently conduct tissue sample processing and analysis from rodents and/or minipigs using state of the art technologies.
• Excellent aseptic cell culture technique for handling human and murine primary cells and transformed cell lines
• Experience in RT-PCR, ELISA, Flow Cytometry and Western Blot techniques is highly desirable.
• Experience in state of the art immunology techniques to support isolation and ex vivo analysis of cells from animal tissues or human skin samples is a plus.
• Proficiency in the use of software tools to support data analysis (e. g., Prism, FlowJo, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
• Ability to communicate in English is a plus
