Job summary

IRB Barcelona is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Manager to oversee daily operations, stock control, equipment maintenance, and budget management within the Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine labs at the University of Barcelona.

The role requires coordinating purchases, ensuring compliance with funding rules, and supporting financial reporting for multiple projects while maintaining high scientific standards and safe laboratory practices.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage budgets and administrative tasks in a scientific environment.
• Experience with inventory tracking and financial reporting is valued.

Responsibilities

• Stock and consumables control: Management of orders for reagents and daily laboratory materials, optimizing resources.
• Supplier relations: Negotiation of terms with scientific material suppliers.
• Equipment maintenance: Coordination of calibrations, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
• Project financial management: Budget control for one or more research projects (national and international).
• Support for financial reporting: Monitor expenses for eligibility criteria of funding agencies.
• Coordination with IRB and UB Administration: Liaise with Grants Office, Finance/Purchasing, and HR to process purchases and reporting.
