The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) in Spain is seeking a Junior Postdoctoral Researcher for the Blood Stem Cell Identity group, led by Dr. Vincenzo Calvanese.

The role focuses on transcriptional and developmental mechanisms governing human HSC emergence, self-renewal and maturation. Candidates should have a PhD in Cell Biology or related field and strong hands-on expertise in hematopoietic and pluripotent stem cell culture, genetic engineering, and single-cell approaches.

Formación

• Holds a PhD in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Stem Cell Biology or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on expertise in human hematopoietic and pluripotent stem cell culture.
• Experience in genetic engineering (CRISPR‑Cas9) and reporter line generation.
• Proficient in flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and confocal imaging.
• Experience with single-cell transcriptomics, spatial transcriptomics or ATAC‑seq prep.
• Solid molecular biology skills (RNA/DNA work, PCR, qPCR, sequencing).
• Background in hematopoiesis or stem cell biology is desirable.
• Familiarity with basic bioinformatics (R, Seurat) and willingness to grow skills.
• Track record of peer‑reviewed publications and collaborations.
• Excellent English communication and teamwork.
• Motivation, organization and proactive attitude.

Responsabilidades

• Design and perform cell culture and directed differentiation of HSC sources.
• Differentiate pluripotent cells toward hematopoietic lineages and organoid assays.
• Generate CRISPR-edited and fluorescent reporter lines to track development.
• Perform flow cytometry, cell isolation, and imaging of hematopoietic cells.
• Prepare samples for single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and ATAC-seq.
• Carry out molecular biology experiments (RNA/DNA; PCR, qPCR).
• Conduct in vivo hematopoietic assays in appropriate models.
• Collaborate with team members and bioinformaticians to analyze data.
• Contribute to figures, presentations and manuscripts.
• Support junior staff and maintain rigorous experimental records.
• Present data within the lab and at national/international meetings.
• Assist in grant applications and fellowship submissions.
