Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC International in Barcelona seeks a Financial Lines Junior Underwriter to join our regional team. You will work on selecting, analyzing and pricing new and renewal policies, negotiating terms with brokers, and building profitable relationships within the portfolio.

The ideal candidate holds a BA/MA in business, law or economics, is a native German speaker with high-level English, and is eager to develop underwriting skills under the Financial Lines Manager guidance.

Qualifications

• BA or MA in business, law or economics.
• Native German and fluent English (high level) required.
• Additional languages a plus.
• Previous work experience in the insurance industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and maintain broker relationships.
• Analyse data relating to an account: study financial, regional/national economic trends and industry conditions in the assigned underwriting discipline.
• Negotiate with brokers.
• Follow underwriting guidelines and submit underwriting, pricing and negotiation recommendations to the Financial Lines Manager or a Referral Committee.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Manage and grow the book of business.
• Coordinate and/or participate in special projects.
• Attend off-site conferences, trade shows, seminars and meetings.
