Job summary

Sulzer in Cornellà (Barcelona) seeks a motivated Jr. Sales Engineer to join our international team, combining engineering knowledge with a customer-focused sales approach from the Barcelona office for our Portugal customers.

You will support the sales team by delivering technical presentations, preparing proposals, and developing customized solutions, while gaining exposure to industrial applications, customer needs, and the commercial process.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required; Mechanical preferred.
• Up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong interest in technology and sales.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent English (First Certificate level or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and delivery of technical presentations and product information.
• Assist in developing customized technical solutions based on customer requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure feasibility of proposals.
• Prepare quotations, proposals, and supporting documentation.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide technical support throughout the sales process.
• Maintain records of customer interactions and sales activities using CRM tools.
• Work with the sales team to support customers in Portugal from the Barcelona office.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Jr. Sales Engineer to join our team in Cornellà (Barcelona). This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineering professional who is interested in combining technical knowledge with a customer-focused commercial approach.

In this role, you will support the sales team in Portugal by providing technical expertise, preparing proposals, and helping to develop customized solutions that meet customer needs. Working closely with experienced sales professionals and engineering teams, you will gain valuable exposure to industrial applications, customer requirements, and technical sales processes.

What you will do:

• Support the preparation and delivery of technical presentations and product-related information.
• Assist in developing customized technical solutions based on customer requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure the technical feasibility of proposals.
• Prepare quotations, proposals, and supporting technical documentation.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide technical support throughout the sales process.
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify business opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activities using CRM tools.
• Work closely with the sales team supporting customers in Portugal from the Barcelona office.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team.

What you need to succeed:

Required:

• University degree in Engineering. Mechanical Engineering is preferred; Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant engineering disciplines will also be considered.
• Up to 2 years of relevant professional experience, internships, or equivalent practical exposure.
• Strong interest in both technology and sales.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyse problems, learn quickly, and adapt to new technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience working with CRM tools or willingness to learn.
• Fluent English with at least First Certificate level or equivalent.
• Proactive mindset and strong team-player attitude.

Preferred:

• Experience in industrial or technical environments.
• Knowledge of fluid equipment, purification technologies, valves, industrial installations, or related applications.
• Exposure to the paper industry or industrial process sectors.
• Portuguese language skills.
