Vonage is seeking a talented engineer to join our Madrid-based engineering team, building scalable backend services and expanding our Verify API with new channels and anti-fraud features. You will work across Go, Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka, Redis, and Kubernetes to deliver reliable software at scale.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Product Management, emphasizing testing, deployment automation, and documentation to support growth and high-quality solutions.

Formación

• Proven software engineering skills for backend services and distributed systems.
• Experience with public cloud deployment (AWS preferred).
• Knowledge of testing strategies including unit/integration/end-to-end tests.

The Engineering team at Vonage is growing a group of talented engineers. They face multiple challenges associated with high performance, distributed systems, and processing large volumes of data in real time.

The Vonage Verify API team is looking at expanding its size, in order to accelerate our product development to support our growing customer base, with a particular focus on adding new channels, enhanced anti-fraud measures and integration with Networks APIs to our next-generation two-factor authentication platform.

Our Engineers work on an exciting mix of both greenfield and existing projects, giving them an opportunity to explore new technologies.

What you will do

• Create scalable microservices that will help support our impressive growth


• Propose scalable, maintainable and cost effective solutions


• Estimate the effort required to develop and deliver new product features


• Implement and execute effective testing strategies, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests, to ensure software quality and reliability


• Design and develop approaches to measure, evaluate and improve service quality


• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback to peers, and actively contribute to maintaining a high standard of code quality and development practices


• Contribute to the documentation of the components, design patterns, and the design system to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members


• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging frontend technologies, and share knowledge and expertise with the development team to continuously improve our development processes and standards

What you’ll bring

• Excellent software engineering skills for backend services


• Work closely with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to ensure seamless integration of new features and services with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance


• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


• A strong focus on testing


• An understanding of object oriented design and standard design patterns


• Strong experience of multi-threaded, 3-tier architectures, web services, caching, and dealing with event-driven pipelines


• Willingness to learn and use different technologies and programming languages


• First hand knowledge of Continuous Deployment tools and methodologies


• Experience working with public cloud. AWS would be advantageous


• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases


• Practical experience of deploying code in a modern programming environment using tools such as Docker, Helm and Kubernetes
